एगो बेंग हल । एक समै ऊ रस्ता में कूदइत जाइत हल। ओही राह से एगो बड़का साँढ़ जाइत हल। सँढ़वा के लाती बेंगवा पर पड़ गेलई, तऽ ओकर पेट फट गेलई। ओकर पेट में से पाँच चीज निकलल- एगो बैल, एगो तेली, एगो बाघ, एगो बटेर आउ एगो सूअर! बटेर अपन चिरई के झुंड में चल गेल। सूअर अप्पन जमात में चल गेल। बाघ जंगल में चल गेल, बाकि तेलिया आउ बैला बच गेल। से बैला कहकई तेलिया से कि ''हमनी दूनों मिल के कमा-खा सकऽ ही। से तू एगो कोल्हू ले आवऽ, राजा से जमीन माँग के उहईं गाड़ दऽ। तेल पेर के बेचेए हमरो खिआवऽ आउ तूहूँ खा!''

तेलिया एही कयलक। ऊ रोज कमाय-खाय लगल। कुछ दिना के बाद तेलिया सादी कर लेलक, तब राजा के सिपाही के ओकर मेहररुआ पर लोभ समा गेल। सिपहिआ सोचलक कि कइसे तेलिया के मार दीं, आउ तेलिनिया के रख लीहीं। सिपहिआ के कुछ उपाय न सूझल, तो राजा से जा के कहलक कि ''राजा साहेब, तेलिया के एक सौ मन धान दीहीं, जे आठ दिन में कूट के लौटा दे, न तो खादे-भूसे भरवा दीहीं!'' राजा साहेब तेलिया के बोलावे ला चौकीदार भेजलन। चौकीदार के बात सुन के तेलिया राजा साहेब के पास दउड़ल गेल। उहाँ राजा कहलन कि ''तोरा आठ दिन में एक सौ मन धान कूटे ला हवऽ। न कूटब त खादे-भूसे भर देल जयबऽ।

तेलिया घरे आन के अप्पन अउरतिया के कहलक। ऊ बतबकई कि तू बटेरवा भइया के पास जा के पूछ। ऊ उपाय बता देतवऽ। तेलिया बटेरवा भइया भिर गेल, आउ अप्पन सब हाल कहलक। बटेर कहलक कि ''तू सब धान ला के कहीं मैदान में रखऽ, कल्ह हमनी सब आयब!'' तेलिया आ के राजा किहाँ से सब धान ला के मैदान में रखलक। सुबह में झुंड के झुंड बटेर अयलन आउ घंटा भर में सब धान फोर के उड़ गेलन। तेलिया सब धान ओसा देलक। भूसा अप्पन घरे ठोक के राजा से कहलक कि चाउर सब ढोआ लीहीं। राजा आउ सिपाही तज्जुब खाय लगलन। इहाँ आन के देखलन तो चाउर तइयार हल। राजा घरे चाउर ढोवा लेलन।

फिन सिपहियन सोचलन कि अब एकरा से कइसे बदला लेल जाय। राजा से जा के ऊ सब कहलन कि ''अस्सी बिगहा के पोखरा आठ दिन में बन्हवाऊ! जेकरा में भूर-कबार पानी रहे!'' राजा साहेब तेलिया के बोला के अपन हुकुम सुनौलन। तेलिया सुन के घर आयल आउ अउरतिया से कहलक! ऊ कहकई कि तू अपन सुअरिया भइवा भीर जा! तेलिया सुअर के झुंड में गेल, आउ अपन भाई से राजा के हुकुम कह सुनौलक। सुअरिआ कहकई कि घबड़ा मत, आज रात में पोखरा तइयार हो जतवऽ! तेलिया घरे आयल, तो रात में अनगिनत सुअर आन के पोखरा खान देलन, आउ चल गेलन। तेलिया पोखरा खनल देख के राजा के जा सुनौलक, आउ राजा देख के चकित रह गेल।

सिपहियन फिनों सोचलन कि ई तो कोई हालत में फंदा में न फँसइत हे। ओहनी फिन राजा से बाघिन के दूध मँगवावे ला कहलन। राजा सिपाही के बात सुन के तेलिया के बोलवलन आउ बाघिन के दूध माँगलन। तेलिया घरे आन के अउरतिया से कहलक। ऊ बतौलकई कि तू अपन बघवा भइया भीर जा। तेलिया जंगल में अयले, तो बघवन देख के गरजे लगलन कि ''हम खायम, हम खायम!'' तेलिया बोलल ''ई झुंड में हमर एगो भाई हथ, जे बेंग के पेट से जलमलन हे!'' एतना सुन के एगो बाघ बोलल कि ''हमरो बाबा कह हलन कि तूं बेंग के पेट से जलमले हे। अच्छे, कह भाई समाचार?'’ तेलिया राजा के हुकुम सुनौलक। सुन के बघवा एगो बाघिन के ले आन के खड़ा कर देलक, आउ कहलक कि ''जेतना मन हउ, ओतना दूध दूह ले!'' तेलिया टहरी में दूध दूह लेलक, आउ राजा के पास आ गेल। राजा आउ सिपहियन देख के कहलन कि ''अरे बदमाश! तूं बाघिन के दूध कहाँ से लयबें? हमरे से खेल खेलइत हैं?'’

तेलिया कहलक कि ''विश्‍वास न हवऽ, तो हम बघिनिये के ले-ले आवइत हिवऽ! फिनों ऊ जंगल में बघवा भइया के पास आयल, आउ सब हाल कहलक तो बघवा आउ बाघिन के साथे जंगल के बड़ी मानी बाघ चललन। आगे-आगे तेलिया आउ पीछे-पीछे बाघ-बाघिन के जमात, अइसन लगे कि कोई गड़ेरी भेड़ियन के ले-ले जाइत हे! ले जा के तेलिया राजा जी के दूरा पर सब बघवन के खड़ा कर देलक। राजा के देख के तो हवासे गुम पड़ गेल। ऊ तेलिया के गोड़-हाथ परे लगलन आउ कहलन कि ''तोरा हम आधा राज-पाट लिख देइत हिअउ, सब बाघ के हटा दे!'' तब तेलिया कहलक कि ''पहिले अपन सिपहियन के खादे-भूँसे भरा दऽ, आउ कुछ खस्सी ला के बघवन के खिया दऽ!'' राजा सिपहियन के खादे-भूँसे भरवा देलन। बघवन के खस्सी खिला के चला देलन। तेलिया आधा राज-पाट ले के दूनो बेकत आराम से राज करे लगलन। लोभ नास के कारण होवऽ हे।

Once upon a time, there was a goat. One day, it was jumping along the road when a big bull passed by. The bull fell on the goat, causing its belly to burst open. From its belly, five things came out: a bull, an oilman, a tiger, a partridge, and a pig! The partridge flew back to its flock, and the pig returned to its group. The tiger went into the forest, but the oilman and the bull were left behind. The bull said to the oilman, "We can both work together and eat. So you should get a bullock cart and ask the king for land to plant it there. We can crush oil and eat together!"

The oilman did exactly that. He started earning and eating daily. After some days, the oilman got married, and then the king’s soldiers became greedy for his wife. The soldiers contemplated how to kill the oilman and keep his wife for themselves. Since they couldn't come up with a plan, they went to the king and said, "O King, we will give the oilman a hundred maunds of rice, which he must grind and return in eight days. If he doesn't, we will fill his home with food and fodder!" The king then sent a guard to call the oilman. After listening to the guard, the oilman rushed to the king. There, the king said, "You need to grind a hundred maunds of rice in eight days. If you don't, we will fill your home with food and fodder!"

The oilman went home and told his wife about the situation. He advised her to visit the partridge. The oilman went to the partridge and explained everything. The partridge said, "You should take all the rice and keep it in an open field; we will come tomorrow!" The oilman went to the king and placed all the rice in the field. In the morning, flocks of partridges came and within an hour, they pecked and consumed all the rice. The oilman was left with nothing. He took the husk home and told the king that they could take away the rice. The king and the soldiers were astonished. When they saw, the rice was already gone. The king ordered the rice to be taken away.

The soldiers then thought about how to take revenge on him. They went to the king and demanded milk from a tigress. After listening to the soldiers, the king called the oilman and asked for milk from the tigress. The oilman returned home and told his wife about it. He said, "You go to your brother, the tiger!" The oilman went into the forest, and upon seeing him, the tiger roared, "I will eat, I will eat!" The oilman replied, "There is a brother from this herd who has come out of the goat's belly!" Hearing this, one tiger said, "My father told me that you have indeed come out from the goat's belly. Good, tell me the news, brother?" The oilman relayed the king's orders. Hearing this, the tiger brought a tigress and said, "Gather as much milk as you can!" The oilman successfully collected the milk and returned to the king. When the king and the soldiers saw him, they exclaimed, "Hey rascal! Where did you get the tigress's milk from? Are you playing with us?"

The oilman said, "If you don't believe me, I will bring the tigress to you!" He then went back to the jungle and told the tiger everything. The tiger took the tigress and led her deep into the forest. The oilman went ahead with the tigress and behind him followed the group of tigers, making it look like someone was taking a herd of sheep! He took the tigers to the king's court and stood them there. The king was astonished when he saw them. He fell at the oilman's feet and said, "I will give you half of the kingdom, just drive away all these tigers!" The oilman then said, "First fill your soldiers' homes with food and fodder, and also bring some goats to feed to the tigers!" The king had the soldiers' homes filled with food. He fed the tigers goats and then let them go. The oilman took half of the kingdom and both lived comfortably, ruling together. Greed brought about their downfall.
