The story is about a man preparing for the Teej festival and observing his wife's unusual behavior during the worship. While she claims to be hungry and thirsty, she secretly eats rice, cucumbers, and crushed grains. The man notices her actions, and during the ritual, he recounts her eating habits as part of the story. Eventually, the wife becomes annoyed, questioning the story's accuracy, and the man insists that this is the true account. The tale highlights a humorous misunderstanding or miscommunication related to the Teej festival rituals.

There was a man. His wife once performed the Teej festival. The man brought all the necessary items for the Teej worship and kept them ready. When the man told his wife to serve water in her devotion, she replied that "I am very hungry, and my throat is parched from thirst, so please serve yourself." Then the man went into the room! Seeing all his wife’s actions, he was surprised. She was eating rice by the handful. She was stuffing her mouth with skewered rice. After finishing the rice, she peeled a cucumber and ate two pieces. Then she kept some crushed grains and ate those as well. When he left, she asked him to tell Pandit Ji to come early in the morning because she was very hungry and her throat was dry from thirst.

In the morning, the man sat down to perform the worship. Gathering all the items needed for Teej, he began the prayer. After completing the worship, he started narrating the story:

"She ate piles of rice, ate the stuffed skewers, and, crunching, ate cucumbers and crushed grains!"

Every hour, she would repeat this story. Then the wife began to get annoyed and said, “Pandit Ji didn’t tell such stories! Why are you telling them like this?” The man replied that Pandit Ji didn’t say that. The correct story of the worship is this:

"She ate piles of rice, ate the stuffed skewers, and, crunching, ate cucumbers and crushed grains!"
