The story revolves around a jackal and a goat who become friends and decide to cultivate a field together. They successfully grow crops, but when it comes time to harvest, the goat eats the grains while the jackal refrains from doing so. When they attempt to divide the harvested grains, the jackal refuses to share, claiming the goat has already had its share. The goat, feeling wronged, enlists the help of neighborhood dogs. When the dogs confront the jackal, he flees, allowing the goat to take all the grains home. Ultimately, the tale illustrates how dishonesty can ruin friendships.

Once there was a jackal and a goat. They became friends. One day, the goat and the jackal thought that just sitting around wouldn’t do. They decided to work together and start a household. So, both of them rented a field and planted seeds in it. They worked hard in the field, and the crop grew well. When the harvest was ready, the jackal went with the goat to collect it.
The goat ate the grains that fell from the harvest, but the jackal didn’t eat any. The goat took more for itself, even bringing some home for its kids. When the grains were cut and piled up in the barn, they both went to divide it. When the grains were piled up, the goat said to divide it, but the jackal refused to share. He said, "You have already eaten your share, so you have no part in this!" The goat insisted that they should divide it, but the jackal did not agree.
So, the goat went home and told the neighborhood dogs, "The jackal is not sharing the grains and asking what part of it belongs to him!" Four dogs went to help the goat with the division. They hid near the barn. The goat began to bleat for the division of the grains. The jackal continuously mocked, saying, "Now you want to share the grains after having eaten! What husband is going to call?" Hearing this, the dogs started to chase the jackal. The jackal ran away, while the dogs chased him. Meanwhile, the goat managed to bring all the grains home. The friendship between the jackal and the goat was broken. This is the result of dishonesty!
