एगो जंगल में सोरह गो भइँस रहऽ हलन। सोरहो भइँस एके तुरी बच्चा देलक। पन्द्रह गो तो काड़ी देलक बाकि एगो भइँस काड़ा बिआयल। जब सब के बचवन टेहटारू हो गेलन, तो कड़वा सब के एक दिन एगो कुआँ पर ले गेल आउ कहलक कि जे ई कुआँ टप जायत ऊ सोरहो भइँस के दूध पीअत। पहिले कड़वा तड़पल आउ कुआँ टप गेल। फिन कड़ियन तड़पे लगलन तो सब चभ-चभ कुआँ में गिर के मर गेलन। अकेले कड़वा बच गेल, आउ सोरहो भइँस के दूध पी के मोटा के राना (अरना) भैंसा हो गेल।

ओही जंगल में एगो बाघ आउ बाघिन रहऽ हल। बघवा बूँट के खेती कयले हल। ओकर अगोरा सियार के बइठा देलक हल। सियरा रोज बूँट अगोरे आउ बघवा के ''मामू-मामू'' कहे । एक दिन मोटका राना भैंसा बूंट चरे लगल तो सियरा कहलक- ''राना भैंसा ! राना भैंसा ! बूँट मत खो, बाघ मामू अवथुन तऽ चीर-फार के खा जैथुन!'' तब राना भैंसा कड़क बोलल- सोरह भइँस के सोरह चभक्का, सोरह सेर घीव खाऊँ रे। कउन हउ तोर बाघ मामू, एक पकड़ लड़ जाऊँ रे।

तब सियारवा ओकर डकारभरल बोली सुनके घबड़ा गेल, आउ दउड़ल बाघ मामू भिर गेल, आउ राना भैंसवा के सब हाल कहलक । बघवा तड़पते आयल आउ दूनों में घमसान लड़ाई होवे लगल । लड़ते-लड़ते राना भैंसा सींघ से अइसन मारलक कि बाघ के पेटे चिरा गेल। बाघ ठउरे मर गेल। सियरवा बघवा में से थोड़े माँस ले के बघिनिया भिर गेल आउ कहलक कि ''मामू भइँसवा के माँस देलकथुन हे, बनावे ला कहलकथुन हे कि नीमक-उमक चीख के रखतन!'' बघिनियाँ माँसवा सींझा के खाय लगल तऽ सिअरवा कहे लगल कि - ''रमवाँ रे रमवाँ, बाघ मामू के माँसवा मामी खाइत हथिन रे रमवाँ !'' ई सुन के बघिनियाँ दउड़ल खेत पर आयल, तो भैंसवा के खेत अहड़ते देखलक। भैंसवा तो ताव में हइये हल। एकरो सींघ से पेट फार देलक । बघिनियाँ भी ओहिजे मर गेल। अब सियरा सोचलक कि तहिना से तो हम मामू-मामी के नाता जोड़ के बचल हली। अब निफिकिर हो गेली बाकि भैंसवा के कइसहूँ छकावे के चाहीं!

एक दिन सियरा बूँट अगोरले हल। राना भैंसा आ के चरे लगल। सियरा कहलक कि आज एगो दोसर भैंसा आन के कहकउ हे कि ''रनवा भैंसा आवत तऽ कहिहें। ऊ बड़ी दिन से भागल चलइत हे !'' ई सुन के राना भैंसा बेताब हो गेल आउ कहलक कि- ''ऊ कहाँ हउ?'’ सियरा ओकरो कुआँ भीर ले जा के देखा देलक। पानी में अपने नियन भैंसा देख के ऊ जोर से गरजल ते ओनहूँ से आवाज आयल। तब ई राना भैंसा ओकरा मारे ला कुआँ में कूद गेल आउ मर गेल। सियरा अलगे से देखइत ठठा के हँसल आउ बूँट के खेत में आ के निफिकिर होके रहे लगल ।

In a forest, there were sixteen buffaloes. All sixteen buffaloes gave birth to a calf each. Fifteen of them produced black calves, but one buffalo gave birth to a white calf. When all the calves grew up, one day the buffalo took them to a well and said that whoever fell into the well would drink the milk of all sixteen buffaloes. At first, the buffalo was restless and fell into the well. Then the other buffaloes began to panic, and all of them fell into the well and died. Only the first buffalo survived, and after drinking the milk of the sixteen buffaloes, it became a fat bull (a strong buffalo).

In that same forest, there was a tiger and a tigress. The tiger was farming with a millet crop. He had a fox sitting in front of him. The fox would go every day to the millet crop and call the tiger "uncle." One day, the fat bull started to graze on the millet, so the fox said, "Bull! Bull! Don't eat the millet, or uncle tiger will tear you apart and eat you!"

Then the bull said sternly, "Sixteen buffaloes are sixteen strong; I eat ghee (clarified butter) from all sixteen. Who is your uncle tiger? Let him come, and I will fight him!"

Hearing the bull's bold words, the fox got scared and ran off to the tiger, informing him about the situation. The tiger rushed in, and soon both began to fight fiercely. During the battle, the bull gored the tiger with its horn so hard that it split the tiger's belly. The tiger died on the spot. The fox took a little meat from the tiger and went to the tigress, saying, "Auntie, I brought some meat of the bull; they told me to prepare it, saying to keep it hidden!"

As the tigress began cooking the meat, the fox remarked, "Oh, what a feast! Auntie is eating the meat of uncle tiger!" Hearing this, the tigress rushed to the field, only to find the bull grazing there. The bull was furious and gored her in the same way, and she died there too. Now the fox thought that in this way, it had managed to keep a connection with the tiger and tigress. Now it had nothing to fear, but it still needed to trick the bull somehow!

One day, the fox was waiting near the millet crop. The bull came and started to graze. The fox said, "Today, bring another bull and tell him that ‘the fighting bull is coming; he has been fleeing for so long!'" Upon hearing this, the bull became anxious and asked, "Where is he?" The fox took him to a well and showed him. Seeing another bull looking like himself in the water, he let out a loud bellow, thinking it was another. Then the bull jumped into the well to fight and drowned. The fox watched from a distance, laughed, and went to the millet field, feeling carefree.
