एक समय के बात हे, कि एगो राजा के दरबार में सात गो मुंसी जी रहऽ हलन। ओहनी सब देवान-पटवारी के काम करऽ हलन। बइठल-बइठल राजा के बुरबक बना के धन भी ठग ले हलन। ओहनी के देह से तो कोई काम होयबे नऽ कर हल। एक दिन के बात हे, कि राजा साहेब एगो लालाजी के कहलन कि जाके कोयरी के खेत में से मुरई कबार के ले आवऽ।

मुंसी जी देह से कोई काम नऽ करलो चाहऽ हलन। ई भी डर हल कि एक तुरी कोई काम कर देब, तो राजा साहब तुरी-तुरी काम करे ला कहतन। से ई बात सोच के लाला जी खेत में गेलन, आउ मुरई कबारे में जोर लगावे लगलन। मुरई कबरबे न करे। दरअसल ऊ मुरई कबारे ला नऽ चाहऽ हलन। राजा जी लाला जी के ई नाटक देखलन, कि ऊ मुरई कबारत-कबारत थक गेलन हे, तो ऊ फिनो छवो मुंसी जी के भेजलन। सातो मुंसी जी खेत में पहुँच के अपना में बतिअयलन, कि मुरई कबारे में हमनी सब ला घाटा हे - हमनी से कलम के साथे देह से भी काम लेवल जायत। से मुरई कबार के नऽ ले चले के चाहीं, बाकि कबारे के ढोंग करे ला हे, न तो नोकरी से निकाल देल जायत।

से ओहनी सातो मुंसी जी एके तुरी मिल के मुरई कबारे लगलन। कोइरी के खेत अँहड़ा गेल। ढेर मानी मुरई रऊदा गेल। ई हाल कोयरी झोपड़ी में बइठल देखइत हल। ओकरा खीस तो बर रहल हल, बाकि राजा के डरे कुछ बोलइत नऽ हल। ढेर देरी के बाद ओकरा नऽ रहायल, तो झोपड़िये में से गते टुभकल मुरगी मेलान आउ कायथ पहलवान , ई बात सुन के ओहनी सातो लजायल नियन कैले राजा भिरु गेलन। राजा खाली हाथ देख के ओहनी से मुरई के बात पूछलन, तो ओहनी कहलन कि -सरकार, कोयरिया हमनी के ठिसुआ के भगा देलक!

Once upon a time, there were seven clerks in the court of a king. They were responsible for the work of the officials and often tricked the king into losing money while sitting idle. They were incapable of doing any physical work. One day, the king told a man named Lala to go and fetch some grain from the field of a farmer.

The clerks did not want to do any physical work. They were also afraid that if they worked even a little, the king would ask them to work consistently. So, thinking this way, Lala went to the field and started trying to gather the grain, but was unable to do so. In fact, he did not want to gather the grain at all. The king saw Lala's act of pretending to gather grain and noticed that he was tired from his efforts, so he sent all seven clerks again. Upon reaching the field, the seven clerks discussed among themselves that it would not be beneficial for them to work with their hands along with their pens—they should not actually fetch the grain but should pretend to do so; otherwise, they would be fired from their jobs.

So, the seven clerks conspired together and pretended to gather the grain. The farmer saw the field turned into a mess. He was very frustrated but did not say anything out of fear of the king. After some time, unable to hold back his anger, he shouted from his hut, "What are you doing, you chicken-lovers and wrestling referees?" Hearing this, the seven clerks felt ashamed and went to the king. When the king saw them empty-handed, he asked about the grain, and they replied, "Sir, the farmer has chased us away!"
