Once upon a time, there was a goat and a dog that lived together. After some time, the dog gave birth to two puppies. Unfortunately, the poor dog died during childbirth. Now, the poor goat started taking care of the puppies. She would graze in the forest all day and in the evening, she would bring back food for the two puppies to drink milk. As days passed in this manner, one day all the jackals gathered and thought, “Hey friends, if we unite and kill the goat, we will all have a grand feast!” Upon hearing this, all the jackals got ready.
Among them, there was a cunning jackal. He said, “From tomorrow, I will hide somewhere, and as soon as the goat comes to graze, I will pounce on her. We will catch her for sure!” The goat learned about all this. That evening, she told her puppies, “Dear ones, drink as much milk as you want today because tomorrow the jackals will surely kill me!” The puppy replied, “Aunt, is that really true? If they are going to kill you, what will happen to us? Well, when you go to graze in the forest, we will also come along!”
In the morning, the goat drank milk with her puppies and went out to graze. Following her, the two puppies also hid nearby. When the cunning jackals attacked the goat, the two puppies jumped out and frightened them so much that the jackals barely managed to escape back to their den. The cunning jackal was far away. He was running so fast that as soon as he reached his den and tried to enter, his head got stuck at the entrance, and he fell down. The two puppies then attacked him and killed him.
