Ignoring the caution, he ultimately faces consequences when he attempts to take his wife home. Along the way, he encounters another priest who claims his wife as his own passenger. Their dispute escalates to a village panchayat (council) where an unusual decision is made: the rightful owner of the passenger will be the one who can escape a pot. The other priest successfully escapes, but the real priest initially struggles to fit in. In the end, the panchayat confines the imposter priest in the pot and allows the real priest to take his wife home, warning him against traveling during 'Bhadra' in the future. The story highlights themes of consequence and respect for cultural beliefs.
एगो बाबा जी ससुरार गेलन, तो रोसगदी करावे ला जल्दीबाजी करे लगलन। ससुर कहलथिन कि ई घड़ी 'भदरा' हे, दू-चार दिन के बाद ई नछत्तर बीत जायत, तो रोसगदी कर देबवऽ। बाकि ऊ न मानलक, आउ बरियारी रोसगदी करा के मेहरारू के ले के घरे चललन। ससुर कहकथिन कि भदरा में रोसगदी करावे के फल तू पा लेबऽ।
बाबाजी मेहरारू के ले ले घरे जाइत हलन, तो राह में एगो नदी मिलल। किनारे पर पहुँच के बाबा जी दीसा फीरे लगलन, आउ कहार के कह देलन कि तोहनी ऊ पार चल के ठहरिहँऽ। कुछ देर के बाद 'भदरा' बाबा जी के रूप धर के घोड़ा पर चढ़ के अयलन, आउ कहलन कि तूं लोग अब चलऽ! कहार लोग चललन तो असली बाबा जी पीठिया ठोक के पहुँचलन। ऊ जा के पूछलन कि तू के हें, आउ हम्मर सवारी काहे उठवले जाइत हें? ओकरा पर दूसरका बाबाजी कहलन कि ई हम्मर सवारी हे। ई पर दूनों लड़े लगलन, आउ लड़ते-लड़ते एगो गाँव में गेलन, तो एगो अदमी कहकइन कि तोहनी पंचयती करा लऽ!
गाँव के पूरब भर एगो टिल्हा हल, जेकरा पर बइठ के पाँच गो अदमी फैसला करऽ हलन। दूनो बाबा जी सवारी ले-ले उहाँ गेलन, उहाँ दू गो बूढ़ा आउ तीन गो जवान मिल के फैसला करे लगलन। टिल्हा पर पंच लोग बइठलन, तो ओहनी के पता चल गेल कि बाबा जी 'भदरा’ के फेरा में पड़ल हथ। पंच सब मिल के कहलन कि बाबा जी, एगो टूआँ ले आवऽ ! ओहिजे के एगो अदमी कुम्हार हीं से टूआँ ला देलक।
पंच कहलन कि जे ई टूआँ में से समा के निकल जायत ओकरे ई सवारी होयत। ई सुन के दूसरका बाबाजी खुस हो के दू बार टूआँ में से समा के निकल गेलन। देख के लोग चकित हो गेलन, कि अदमी भला टूइआँ में समा सक हे। ई देख के असलका पंडी जी जार-बेजार रोवे लगलन, कि हमरा ई टूइआँ में खाली एगो कइसे जायत? सरीर तो घुसबे नऽ करत। बाबा जी के रोइत देख के पंच लोग समझौलन, कि अभी हमनी फैसला सुनौली नऽ हे। काहे रोइत ही? बाबाजी थोड़ा संतोष बान्हलन।
पंच लोग दोसरका बाबाजी से कहलन कि फिन जरा टूआँ में घुसऽ तो? बाबाजी खुसी से टूआँ में घुस गेलन, तो पंच लोग टूआँ के दूनो मुँह झट से बंद कर देलन, आउ असलका बाबा जी के कहलन कि अप्पन सवारी ले जाऽ, आउ अब से भूल के भी भदरा नछत्तर में जतरा नऽ करिहँऽ।
A priest went to his in-laws' house and hurried to prepare the sweets. His father-in-law said that it was 'Bhadra' at that moment, and that they should wait for two to four days until this phase passed before making the sweets. However, he did not listen and hurriedly made the sweets to take his wife home. The father-in-law warned him that he would reap the consequences of making sweets during 'Bhadra.'
As the priest was taking his wife home, they came across a river. Upon reaching the bank, the priest gave instructions to the bearers to stay on the other side. After some time, 'Bhadra' appeared in the form of a horse and said, "You all can go now!" As the bearers moved on, the real priest arrived, clapping his hands. He asked, "Who are you, and why are you taking my passenger?" The other priest responded, "This is my passenger." They began to fight, and while they were quarreling, they reached a village where a man suggested that they settle it in front of a panchayat.
To the east of the village, there was a platform where five men were making decisions. Both priests took their disputes there. There, two elderly men and three young men started to deliberate. As the panchayat members were sitting on the platform, they realized that the priests were caught up in the 'Bhadra' issue. The panchayat members called out for someone to bring a pot. One man from the area brought a pot from a potter.
The panchayat announced that whoever could escape from this pot would be considered the rightful owner of the passenger. Hearing this, the other priest happily entered the pot and escaped twice. The onlookers were amazed that a person could actually fit into the pot. Seeing this, the real priest began to wail, saying, "How can I go into this pot all alone? My body simply won't fit." Seeing the priest crying, the panchayat members reassured him that they hadn't delivered their decision yet. "Why are you crying?" they asked. The priest calmed down a bit.
The panchayat members then asked the other priest to enter the pot again. He happily got into the pot, and the panchayat members quickly closed both the openings of the pot and told the real priest to take his passenger and that he should never even think of traveling during the 'Bhadra' period again.
