The story revolves around a priest and his wife who long for a son. After the priest encounters a sage, he follows his advice and his wife becomes pregnant. They have a son named Innerdubbu, who, after some familial pressure, reluctantly agrees to marry. During the wedding festivities, he has an unfortunate accident and is presumed dead, leading to his hurried cremation. To everyone's surprise, he revives shortly thereafter.

However, complications arise with his new bride when she accidentally makes unsanitary food, triggering Innerdubbu's anger. In a violent outburst, he kills her and sends her dismembered pieces to her family. This leads to further revenge by her family, but in the end, Innerdubbu and his sister decide to forgo marriage and live a life of service to their parents instead. The story showcases themes of family dynamics, miscommunication, and the consequences of rash actions.

एगो गाँव में एगो पाँडे आउ पड़िआइन रह हलन। उनका खाली एगो बेटी हल । बड़ी दिन तक कोई बेटा न भेल। पाँड़े रोज आलसी के तरह सूतल रहथ । ढेर मानी दिन उठ जाय तइयो ऊ न उठथ। एक दिन पड़िआइन कहलन कि तोरा बेटा का होतवऽ । सबरे उठऽ हइये नऽ, घूमऽ फिरऽ हइये नऽ ।

से एक दिन पाँड़े जी खूब तड़के उठलन आउ नेहा धोवा के चलल आवइत हलन। राह में एगो महात्मा खड़ाऊँ पर चढ़ल जाइत हलन । पाँड़े के सबेरे देखलन तो पूछलन कि तू ई घड़ी कहाँ जाइत हें। पाँडे जी कहलन कि हमरा कोई बेटा नऽ हे । ओही ला जाइत ही । महात्मा जी कहलन कि ई मट्टी ले, जो आउ अप्पन मेहरारू के कान में डाल दे। पाड़े अइसने कयलन आउ उनकर अउरत के गरभ रह गेल।

नौ महीना के बाद पाँडे जी के एगो बेटा पैदा लेलक । ऊ लइका रोज एक जौ बढ़े। थोड़ ही दिन में सैयान हो गेल । पड़िआइन चाहलन कि अप्पन दूनो संतान के एके घर में सादी कर दीहीं। बाकि लड़कावा गोलावट सादी करे ला तइयारे न होवे। अंत में माय के जिद्द रोप देला पर बेटा सादी करे ला तइयार हो गेल। एके घर में सादी ठीक हो गेल ।

पहिले पड़‍िआइन के बेटी के बराती आयल । सादी-उदी हो गेल। बेटा के बराती जाय के तइयारी भेल तो नहछूर के पहिले बेटवा कहलक कि हमरा बडी़ गरमी लगइत हे। मना कयला पर भी ऊ न मानल आउ लोटा-डोरी लेके बाहर कुआँ पर नेहाय चल गेल। उहाँ जा के लोटा डोरी कुँआ पर रख देलक आउ अपने ओकरा में कूद गेल ।

एने बराती के जाय में कुबेर होय लगल से खोजाहट भेल। लोग कुआँ पर गेलन तो देखइत हथ कि ऊ ऊभ-डूब करइत हथ । उनका निकालल गेल । लोग उनका '' इनरडुब्बू '' कहे लगलन। इनरडुब्बू के बराती गेल । सादी-विआह भे गेल। बराती लौटे लगल तो इनरडुब्बू के सास-ससुर कहलन कि दमाद थोड़े दिन रह के जयतन, से उनका विदाई न भेल।

रात में इनरडुब्बू के कोहबर मिलल। उहाँ सूतल हलन तो, उनकर कनेयाँ आन के अइसन मरलन कि मर गेलन । अन्हारे घर में सोर मचल । लोग सोचलन कि मर गेल तो अब चुपचाप सतगत कर देवे के चाहीं । से बिना हल्ला-हुसरत के इनरडुब्बू के चिरारी पर ले जाके जला देल गेल ।

जब कुछ दिन भेल तो इनरडुब्बू के मतारी इहाँ सोच में पड़ल। पाँड़े के खोपसाना देके भेजलन । पाँडे़ समधिआना पहुँचलन तो पहिले लोग आना-कानी कयलन बाकि फिनों बता देलन। बेटा के मरे के हाल सुन के पाँड़े छाती में मुक्का मार के गिर गेलन । कइसहूँ होस में लावल गेलन तो कहलन कि जल्दी हम्मर बाबू के चिता देखावऽ । समधी उनका ले जाके चिता देखवलन । उहां भी ऊ छाती में मुक्का मार के बेहोस हो गेलन। लोग होस करके लावे लगलन तइयो ऊ घूर-घूर के ताकइत जाय।

जब सब लोग आगे बढ़ गेलन तो फिनों ऊ घूम के चिंता देने देखलन तऽ देखइत हथ कि उनकर इनरडुब्बू बेटा चिता से उठ के खड़ा होयलन है । पाँडे दउग के छाती से लगा के कहलन कि तूं जल्दी दउग के माय भिजुन चल जा । बेटा माय भिजुन अप्पन घरे आ गेलन । पाँड़े समधी से कहलन कि अब तो जे होवे ला हल से होइये गेल बाकि रोसगद्दी हो जाय के चाहीं । समधी तइयार हो गेलन । बेटी के रोसगद्दी करा देलन ।

पाँड़े पुतोह के लेके घरे आ गेलन । इहाँ पड़िआइन पहिले बेटा के आउ फिन पुतोह देखके खुश भे गेलन । कहलन कि आज हम पुतोह के बनावल खाना खायब से पुतोह के रसोई बनावे ला कहल गेल ।

पुतोह खाना बनावे लगलन। जोर से पेसाब लगल तो चुल्हा में मूत देलन । आग बुत गेल । पखाना भी लग गेल तो छीपा में पखाना कर के कोठी तर फेंक देलन । हाँड़ी में जूठा लगल हल । सितुहा नऽ मिलल तो दाँत से खखोरलन आउ चुपचाप बइठल हलन । सास अलथिन तो पूछलन कि बइठल काहे हे । तऽ ऊ बतौलन कि जोर से पेशाब लगल से चूल्हवे में मूत देलिअइ तो अगिये बुता गेलइ हे । सास कपार ठोक के फिनो सब इन्तजाम कयलन ।

खायला बनल आउ सास के परोसा के खाय ला मिलल । सास देखलन कि छीपा में मसाला नियन पीयर कउची तो लगल हे। पूछलन तो पुतोह बोललन कि पेसाब के बाद जोर से दीसा लगल हल । हग के छिपवे में कोठी तर फेंक देली हल। बुझाइत हे कि ओही छिपवा में खइया कढ़ा गेल हे ।

सास ई सब करतूत देख-सुन के कुपुत हो गेलन। बेटा से सब हाल कहलन । बेटा सुन के कहलथिन कि पुतोह के हाथ के खा के तिरपित हो गेले नऽ । अब ई कहऽ कि तूं बेटा चाहइत हैं कि पुतोह ? माय कहलन कि बेटा । इनरडुब्बू एगो तेज तलवार से मेहरारू के सात टुकड़की कर देलक आउ सात गो महर में बंद करके सात गो अदमी पर अप्पन ससुरारी भेज देलन ।

ससुरारी में सातो बेगार आन के महर रख देलन आउ तुरते भाग गेलन । इहाँ महर खोल के देखल गेल तो बेटी के सात टुकड़ी करके सब महर में भरल हे । इहाँ बदला लेबे के राय से समधी इनरडुब्बू के इहाँ उनकर बहिन के रोसगद्दी ला गेलन बाकि पाँड़े दिन नऽ धयलन । इनरडुब्बू कहलन कि हमनी दूगो भाई-बहिन ही । नऽ हम अब सादी करम नऽ अप्पन बहिन के रोसगद्दी करम। आज से हमनी दूनो भाई-बहिन बिना विआहे के रहम आउ माय-बाप के सेवा करम ।

Once upon a time, there lived a priest and his wife in a village. They had only one daughter. For a long time, they had no son. The priest would lie around lazily every day, and even when he woke up after many days, he wouldn't get up. One day, the wife said to him, "When will you have a son? You don't ever get up, you don't go out to explore."

One day, the priest woke up very early in the morning and went to the river to wash himself. On the way, he encountered a sage who was walking barefoot. When the sage saw the priest in the morning, he asked, "Where are you going at this hour?" The priest replied, "I have no son, that's why I'm going." The sage said, "Take this clay and put it in your wife's ear." The priest did as instructed, and his wife became pregnant.

After nine months, the priest had a son. The boy grew up quickly and soon became a young man. The wife wanted to marry both of her children off in the same house, but the son was not prepared to get married yet. Ultimately, after much insistence from his mother, he agreed to marry. The wedding was set to take place in their house.

First, the bride's party arrived for the marriage ceremony. The rituals were performed, and when it was time for the groom's party to leave, the son said that he felt very hot. Despite being told not to, he insisted and took a pitcher and suspended rope outside to wash. He placed the pitcher and rope by the well and jumped into it himself.

Meanwhile, as the groom's party was leaving, there was a search for him. When people went to the well, they saw him drowning. He was pulled out, and people started calling him "Innerdubbu" (meaning 'drowned one'). The wedding ceremony continued. When the guests began to return, the in-laws told Innerdubbu's parents that their son had only stayed for a short time, so he wasn't sent off properly.

That night, Innerdubbu went to his bridal chamber. When he was lying down, his wife struck him in such a way that he died. There was an uproar in the dark house. People thought that now that he was dead, they should quietly perform the last rites. So, without any fuss, they took Innerdubbu's body to the cremation ground and cremated him.

A few days later, Innerdubbu's mother began to worry. She sent a message to the priest. When the priest arrived at the in-laws' house, people initially hesitated to inform him but eventually did. Upon hearing of his son's death, the priest was heartbroken and fell to the ground. When he was finally brought to his senses, he asked to be shown his son's pyre. The in-laws took him to see the pyre. There, he again fell unconscious after hitting his chest. When people revived him, he looked around in a daze.

When everyone had moved on, he then turned around and saw that his son Innerdubbu was standing up from the pyre. The priest ran to him and said, "Quickly, run and go home to your mother." The son returned home to his mother. The priest told the in-laws, "Whatever was meant to happen has happened, but there should be a feast now." The in-laws agreed. They prepared the feast for their daughter.

The daughter began to cook. When she urgently needed to relieve herself, she ended up urinating into the cooking pot. The fire went out. When the urge to defecate also came, she did that in the hidden area and threw it away into the courtyard. The pot became dirty. Unable to find a cleaning cloth, she scraped it with her teeth and quietly sat down. The mother-in-law, noticing her daughter-in-law sitting idly, asked why she wasn't working. The daughter-in-law explained that she had urgently relieved herself in the cooking pot, so the fire went out. The mother-in-law slapped her forehead and arranged everything again.

The food was prepared, and it was served to the mother-in-law. Upon seeing the dirty stuff in the hidden area, she inquired. The daughter-in-law replied that after urinating, she had an urgent need to defecate and ended up doing that in the hidden area too. Apparently, it seemed that some of that got into the food.

The mother-in-law, looking at all this behavior, became furious. She told her son everything that had happened. The son responded, "Eating food made by this daughter-in-law, I wouldn't be satisfied. Now, are you saying that you want a grandson from this daughter-in-law?" The mother replied, "Yes, my son." Innerdubbu took his sharp sword and cut his wife into seven pieces, placing each piece in a separate container to send to his in-laws.

In the in-laws’ house, the seven pieces were placed in the containers and then they immediately fled. When they opened the containers, it was found that the daughter had been cut into seven pieces and each piece was placed in the containers. The in-laws decided to take revenge and brought Innerdubbu's sister for cooking at their place, but the priest was not awake during the day. Innerdubbu said that they were siblings. "No, we won't marry now, nor will we let our sister get married. From today, both of us will live without marriage and serve our parents."
