एगो बादसाह के सात गो बेटी हले। एक दिन बादसाह अप्पन बेटी से पूछलन कि तोहनी केकर किस्मत से खा हें? सातो में छह बेटी कहलन कि बापजान, हम तोर किस्मत से खा ही, बाकि छोटकी बेटी कहलक कि हम अप्पन किसमत से खा ही। ई सुन के राजा के खीस बर गेल, आउ ऊ बेटी के घर से निकाल देलन। जायत खानी ओकर माय ओकर जूरा में एगो लाल बाँध देलक आउ डोली पर चढ़ा के एगो लौंड़ी के साथे जंगल में भेज देलक। जंगल में लौंड़ी आउ राजा के बेटी गरीब-गुजारी से रहे लगलन। ओकरा नेहयला भी कई दिन हो गेल ।
एक दिन एगो पासी ताड़ पर चढ़इत हल। राजकुमारी दासी से कहलन कि पसिया से कह कि दूगो खगड़ा गिरा देवे। पसिया ढेर मानी खगड़ा गिरा देलक । राजकुमारी ओकरे से अड़ोत करके नेहा लेलक। नेहायते खानी जुड़वा में से लाल गिरल। ई लाल ऊ दाई के देलक आउ कहलक कि तूं बजार में जाके एकरा बेच दे । सूई डोरा आउ फूल काढ़े के थोड़ा साज-समान ले-ले अइहें ! लौंड़ी जा के बजार में लाल बेच देलक आउ सूई-डोरा के साथ-साथ सब जरूरी समान लेले आयल, आउ राजकुमारी के दे देलक। राजकुमारी रोज गिलाफ पर आउ रूमाल पर फूल काढ़े लगल। दाई ओकरे बेच के रोज खाय के समान लावे लगल । ई तरह से राजकुमारी दाई के साथ रहे लगल आउ कमाई करके मजे में खाय लगल। जे फाजिल पैसा बचे ओकरा हिफाजत से ऊ जमा करे लगल।
कुछ दिना के बाद राजकुमारी अप्पन घर बनावे ला चाहलक । दूगो मजदूर लगा के ऊ दावा खनावे लगल मजदूर दावा खाने तो गइता छलक जाय । केतनो उपाय कयलक तो दावा न खोदाय राजकुमारी जाके देखलक तो ओहिजा सोना के ईंटा गड़ल हल से ऊ मजदूर के घरे जायला कह देलक। रात में ऊ अपने हाथ से सोना के ईंटा कबार लेलक । दोसर दिन दाई के बजार में ओकरा बेचे ला भेजलक । दाई सोना के ईंटा बेच के बड़ी मानी रोपेआ लवलक। राजकुमारी ढिंढोरा पिटा देलक कि जे मिस्त्री हम्मर सबसे बढ़िया मकान बनावत ओकरा से हम महल बनवायब। बहुत मिस्त्री अप्पन- अप्पन नकसा के साथ अयलन, बाकि केकरो नकसा पास न भेल। एगो पहचानल नियन राजमिस्त्री आयल जेकरा देख के राजकुमारी कहलन कि तूही फलाना जगह के बादसाह के महल बनौले हें? तो राजमिस्त्री कहलक कि हाँ! तो हम्मर महल ओकरो से अच्छा बने के चाहीं । राजमिस्त्री तैयार हो गेल, आउ महल बनावे लगल । राजकुमारी राजमिसत्री के कहे के मोताबिक सब समान जुटा देलक । कुछ दिन के बाद महल बनके तैयार हो गेल। खूब बढ़िया आउ सुन्नर!
एक दफे जब राजा तीरथ करे ला जाय लगलन तो अप्पन छवों बेटी से पूछलन कि तोहनी ला हम बाहर से का लयवो? छवो बेटी अप्पन-अप्पन फरमाइस राजा के लिखा देलन । राजा जंगल में छोटकी बेटी के पास गेलन आउ अप्पन दाई से ओकर फरमाइस पुछवलन। दाई जाके राजा से कहलन कि छोटकी माई कहइत हथिन कि उनका ला एगो हारुनी पंखा लेले अइथिन । राजा एकरो लिख के जात्रा पर निकल गेलन । तीरथ करके जब लौटे लगलन आउ जहाज पर सब समान लाद के बइठलन तो जहाज खुलबे न करे। ऊ जहाज के अइसन बात हल कि कोई मोसाफिर के कोई समान छूट जाय तो खुलबे न करे। से जहाज के हँकवताहर कहलन कि ? केकरो कोई समान छूटल हे? ऊ जा के ले आवे ! तो केकरो इयादे न परे बाकि जहाज न खुलल । तो अंत में राजा के इयाद परल कि हम छोटकी बेटी ला हारुनी पंखा न लेली हे। से ऊ जहाज से उतर के हारुनी पंखा खोजे लगलन त एने जहाज खुल गेल । राजा सगरो खोजे आउ कहे कि केकरो पास हारुनी पंखा हे तो हमरा दे दे। ओकरा हम मुँहमाँगा रुपेया देम। बाकि हारुनी पंखा हाली न मिलल ।
एगो अदमी राजा के बतौलक कि हारुनी पंखा इहाँ के बादसाह के पास हे। राजा बादसाह के पास गेलन आउ पंखा माँगलन। बादसाह कहलन कि हमरा पंखा बेचे ला तो न हे, बाकि अपने भी बादसाहे ही, तऽ हम अपने के पंखा दे देइत ही, काहे से कि जरूरत पड़े पर अपने इहाँ से भी हम कोई समान ले आयम। ई सब सोच-विचार के बादसाह राजा के हारुनी पंखा दे देलन । राजा ऊ पंखा लेके अप्पन घरे लौटलन आउ दाई से ऊ पंखा के छोटकी बेटी के इहाँ भिजवा देलन। दाई जब हारुनी पंखा लेके छोटकी राजकुमारी ही पहुँचल, त ऊ नमाज पढ़इत हल, से ऊ खिरकी से पंखा गिरा के चल देलक।
छोटकी राजकुमारी एक दिन गरमी से बेचैन हो रहल हल, तो अप्पन लौंड़ी से कहलक कि जल्दी कहीं से पंखा लावऽ । लौंड़ी घरे में खोजे लगल तो ओही हारुनी पंखा मिलल आउ राजकुमारी के जाके ऊ दे देलक। राजकुमारी हाँके लगल तो पंखा में से खूब खुसबूदार हवा निकले। पंखा घुमौते-घुमौते एक दफे उलटे घूम गेल, आउ तुरते उहाँ हारुन रसीद बादसाह पहुँच गेलन। बादसाह पूछलन कि हमरा तू काहे ला बोलौलऽ हे? राजकुमारी कहलक कि हम काहे ला बोलअबवऽ? राजा कहलन कि तूही तो बोलयबे कयलऽ हे। राजकुमारी मनवे न करे। राजा रहस्य बतौलन कि पंखा के उलटा घूमौते हम आ जबवऽ । अब तो राजकुमारी के जब मन चाहे, उलटे पंखा घुमा के बादसाह के बोलावथ। धीरे-धीरे दूनो में परेम हो गेल । राजकुमारी आउ बादसाह हारुन रसीद में खूब मोहब्बत बढ़े लगल ।
से ई बात ओकर छवो बहिन जान गेलन आउ छोटकी राजकुमारी से डाह करे लगलन । एक दिन छवो राजकुमारी घरे से सीसा गूँड़ के छोटकी बहिन के पास पहुँचलन आउ कहलन कि बादसाह के बोलावऽ। पहले तो ऊ नाहीं-नाहीं कयलक बाकी अंत में चलाँकी से बोलावे ला तैयार भेल। एही बीच ऊ सब दासी से कहलन कि बड़ी गरमी हे, जरा पंखवा लावऽ, तो दासी ओही पंखा लौवलक। सीधे हौंकते-हौंकते ऊ पंखा के उलटे हँउक देलक तो बादसाह पहुँच गेलन। तब तलक एहनी छवो बहिनिन बादसाह ला बिछावन बिछा देलन हल, आउ ओकरा पर सीसा के बुकनी छिड़क के चद्दर बिछा देलन हल। बादसाह अयलन आउ गरमी में अंगरखा निकाल के बिछावन पर भद दे पड़ गेलन। फिन तो उनकर आधा पीठ सीसा से चीरा गेल। ऊ चिल्लाय लगलन कि जल्दी पंखा उलटा घुमाव। राजकुमारी पंखा उलटे घुमौलक आउ बादसाह अप्पन देस चल गेलन। उहाँ गेला पर उनकर काफी दावा-बीरो भेल। राजा मरइत-मरइत बचलन बाकि तइयो अइसन लगऽ हल कि उनकर बचे के कोई आसा न हे।
एन्ने छोटकी राजकुमारी केतनो उलटा पंखा घुमावथ, बाकि बादसाह न आवथ। एक दिन लचार होके राजकुमारी अप्पन लौंड़ी के साथ बादसाह के खोज में निकलल । जाइत-जाइत साँझ हो गेल तो एगो पेड़ के नीचे ठहर गेलन। ऊ पेड़ पर एगो हँस आउ हँसनी के जोड़ा रहऽ हल। रात में हँसनी पूछलक कि अब हारुन के बादसाह के का हाल हे, तो हंस बोलल कि अभियो बचे के कोई उम्मीद नऽ हे। हंसन बोलल कि ऊ कइसे बचतन? हंस कहलक कि एकरा से तोरा का मतलब हे? हंसनी के जिद्द रोप देला पर हंस कहलक कि हमनी के विस्टा ले जाके कोई बेकती उनका उबटन के तरह लगा के गरम पानी से नेहा देत, तो राजा बच जयतन। राजकुमारी ई बतिया सुनइत हल। बिहान हो गेला पर ऊ दासी के घरे भेज देलक आउ अपने हंस-हंसनी के विस्टा ले के फकीरिन के भेस में हारुन बादसाह के पास पहुँचलन। राजा के किला के बाहर उनकर दासी पानी भरइत हले, जहाँ जा के फकीरिन पानी माँगलक । दासी पानी न देलक आउ कहलक कि बादसाह मरल जाइत हथ, उनकरे नेहावे ला हम जल्दी पानी ले ले जाइत ही। फकीरिन कहलक कि हमरा पानी पिया दे । हम बादसाह के ठीक कर देम ! दासी कहलक कि बड़े-बड़े बइद-हकीम हार गेलन तऽ तूं ठीक करे चलले हें, जो-जो ! आउ ई कहके दासी बादसाह के पास चल गेल, आउ सब हाल सुनौलक। ई सुन के बादसाह फकीरिन के तुरत बोलौलक, आउ अच्छा-अच्छा खाना खिलौलक आउ पानी पीये ला देलक ।
निहचिंत हो गेला पर बादसाह पूछलक कि अपने के का का इलाज हे ? ई सुनला पर फकीरिन हँस के विस्टा के सुसुम पानी में घोर के बादसाह के दिन में तीन बार उबटन के तरह लगौलक । बादसाह एके दिन में ठीक हो गेलन, आउ कहलन कि तोर जे इच्छा हे से माँगऽ । फकीरिन तीन चीज माँगलक- छापा रूमाल, राजा के अँगूठी आउ पानदान । राजा ई सब छोड़ के रुपेआ-पैसा देल चाहलन बाकि ऊ कुछो न लेलक । अंत में राजा ओकरा ई सब चीज देके विदा कयलन । राजकुमारी तीनों चीज ले के अप्पन घरे आ गेलन । राजकुमारी घर-दुआर साफ-सुथरा कराके हारुन पंखा के उलटे घुमा के हौंकलन, तो बादसाह खीस में नंगे तलवार लेले पहुँचलन। गुस्सा में बोललन कि ''तूं मुझको काहे को बुलाया है? जान मारने के फेरा में तूं है?'’ लड़की कहलक कि ''हम तोरा जान मारे के बजाय तोर जान बचउली हे !'' राजा कहलन कि एकर सबूत? राजकुमारी बोललन कि हम अपने के पास जाके दाई से पानी मँगली, फिनो अपने बोलौली, आउ खाना-पीना देली। बाद में हम दवा से अच्छा कइलीं। राजा कहलन कि ई सब झूठ हे, तो राजकुमारी छापा रूमाल देखा देलन, आउ अंत में राजा के अँगूठी आउ पानदान भी देखा देलन, तो बादसाह के बिसवास हो गेल। बादसाह अफसोस करे लगलन कि हम काहे नंगे तलवार लेके अइली आउ गुस्सा में बोलली आठ ओकरे सामने ऊ तलवार तोड़ के फेंक देलन। राजकुमारी बादसाह से कहलन कि अब हमनी के सादी कर लेवे के चाहीं । झट-पट सादी के तैयारी भे गेल। लड़की अप्पन बापजान के महल तक फरस बिछा देलक, आउ बाप जान के पास उहें आवे ला समाचार भेजलक । बाप जान लड़की से सब हाल पूछलन, तो लड़की कहलक कि ई घड़ी कुछ न पूछ । हारुन रसीद बादसाह आउ राजकुमारी के सादी हो गेल। सादी हो गेला के बाद लड़की अप्पन बाप से पूछलक- बापजान, अब बतावऽ कि कउन केकर किस्मत से खा हे? बापजान चुप रह गेलन।
Once there was a king who had seven daughters. One day, the king asked his daughters from whom they derive their fortune. Six of the daughters replied, “Father, we rely on your fortune,” but the youngest daughter said, “I rely on my own fortune.” Hearing this, the king became very angry and expelled her from his house. As she was leaving, her mother tied a red thread around her wrist and sent her off into the forest with a girl. In the forest, the girl and the king’s daughter began to live in poverty. Many days passed.
One day, a laborer climbed a palm tree. The princess told her maid to ask the laborer to drop two fruits. The laborer complied and dropped the fruits. The princess skillfully caught one in her hands. After that, it fell into her lap, and she gave it to her maid, saying to sell it in the market and come back with some necessary items like a needle, thread, and flowers. The maid went to the market, sold the fruit, and brought back all the necessary items and gave them to the princess. The princess began to decorate her veil and handkerchief with flowers. The maid started bringing them food to eat daily. In this way, the princess continued to live with the maid and started earning, saving leftover money carefully.
After some days, the princess wanted to build her own house. She hired two laborers to start the foundation, but whenever they tried to dig, it didn’t work. After trying various methods, the princess went to check and found gold bricks buried in the ground, so she told the laborers to go home. That night, she took the gold bricks with her own hands. The next day, she sent the maid to the market to sell them. The maid sold the gold bricks and earned a good amount. The princess announced that whoever could build the best house for her would be given the contract. Many masons came with their own plans, but none were accepted.
Then came a well-known royal mason, and the princess asked him if he had built the king’s palace in a certain place. The mason said yes, so she insisted that her palace should be even better than that. The mason agreed and began to build the palace. The princess provided all the materials needed as per the mason's requirements. After some days, the palace was ready, and it was magnificent and beautiful!
One time, when the king was about to go on a pilgrimage, he asked each of his six daughters if they wanted anything from outside. Each of the six daughters provided their requests to the king. The king went into the forest to consult with his youngest daughter’s maid. The maid went and told the king that the youngest daughter wanted a Haaruni fan (a special fan). The king noted it down and set out on his journey. However, upon returning and loading everything onto his ship, it wouldn’t sail. The ship had a rule that if a traveler left anything behind, it wouldn’t depart. So, the captain yelled out, "Has anyone forgotten something? Go and fetch it!" But no one realized they had forgotten anything, and the ship remained docked. Finally, the king remembered that he hadn’t brought the Haaruni fan for his youngest daughter. He disembarked to search for it, and just then, the ship set sail.
Searching everywhere, the king called out, asking if anyone had the Haaruni fan and he would pay whatever price they asked for it. But he couldn’t find it anywhere.
A man informed the king that the Haaruni fan was with the local king. The king went to the local king and requested the fan. The local king replied, "I don’t sell the fan, but since you are a king too, I will give it to you, as if the need arises, I can also come to you for something." After some consideration, the local king gave the king the Haaruni fan. The king returned home and sent the fan to his youngest daughter through the maid. When the maid reached the youngest princess, she was praying, so she dropped the fan through the window and left.
One day, the youngest princess was feeling very restless due to the heat, so she told her maid to quickly bring a fan from somewhere. The maid searched the house and found that very Haaruni fan and brought it to the princess. As the princess began to fan herself, a fragrant breeze emanated from the fan. While fanning, at one point, the fan turned upside down, and suddenly, Harun, the local king, appeared. The king asked, "Why have you called me?" The princess replied, "Why would I call you?" The king insisted that she had summoned him. The princess refused to believe it. The king revealed the secret that whenever the fan turned upside down, he would come. Now the princess could summon the king whenever she desired by just upside down fanning. Gradually, love blossomed between them, and the princess and King Harun fell deeply in love.
Soon, all six of her sisters found out about this and began to grow envious of the youngest princess. One day, all six princesses arrived at the youngest sister's home and asked her to call the king. At first, she hesitated, but eventually, they cleverly persuaded her to do so. Meanwhile, they told the maid that it was very hot, and to bring the fan. So the maid fetched the fan. While fanning madly, she turned the fan upside down, and Harun the king came right away. By that time, the six sisters had already prepared a bed for the king and scattered some glass beads on it before laying down sheets. The king arrived and, in the heat, removed his coat and lay down, causing half of his back to get cut by the glass beads. He started yelling for someone to turn the fan upside down. The princess turned the fan upside down, and the king left for his country. When he got there, he fell seriously ill, nearly dying, and it seemed to him that there was no hope for his survival.
Meanwhile, no matter how much the youngest princess turned the fan upside down, the king did not come. One day, out of desperation, the princess, along with her maid, set out in search of the king. As they were walking, it got dark, and they stopped under a tree. On that tree, a pair of swans were resting. At night, the female swan asked how the Harun king was doing, to which the male swan replied that he had no hope of survival yet. The female swan continued to question, and the male swan, despite his reluctance, explained that if someone took him to the river and bathed him in warm water like a cleansing ritual, he would recover. The princess heard this conversation. In the morning, she sent her maid to fetch some water and disguised herself as a female beggar to reach King Harun.
When she arrived outside the king's palace, her maid was fetching water when the beggar woman asked for water. The maid refused, saying that the king was dying, and she needed to get the water quickly for him. The beggar woman insisted, saying, "If you give me water, I can heal the king!" The maid said, "Great doctors and healers have failed, and you think you can fix him? Ridiculous!" After this, the maid quickly went to the king to inform him of everything. Hearing this, the king immediately called for the beggar woman and provided her with a grand meal and water to drink.
The beggar woman felt reassured but the king asked her what treatment she had. Upon hearing this, she laughed and took out a special powder from her basket and applied it to the king three times throughout the day. The king healed in just one day and asked her for her wishes. The beggar woman requested three things: a printed handkerchief, the king's ring, and a betel box. The king wanted to offer her money instead, but she refused all that. Finally, he gave her what she requested. The princess returned home with all three items.
The princess cleaned up the house and turned the Haaruni fan upside down. The king quickly arrived, sword drawn and furious. He yelled, "Why have you called me? Are you trying to kill me?" The girl replied, "I saved your life instead of taking it!" The king asked for proof. The princess revealed the printed handkerchief, and ultimately showed him the ring and the betel box, and the king began to believe her. The king felt regret for coming with a sword in anger, and in frustration, he threw the sword aside.
The princess told the king they should get married now. Preparations for the wedding took place swiftly. The girl spread bedding all the way to her father’s palace and sent news for him to come. When the father arrived, he asked her everything and she said, "Right now, please do not ask anything." The wedding between Harun the king and the princess took place. After the wedding, the girl asked her father, "Now tell me, who eats from whose fortune?" The father fell silent.
