एगो राजा के चार गो बेटा हलन। ओहनी चारों भाई एक रोज जंगल में सिकार खेले गेलन । उहाँ ओहनी अप्पन-अप्पन तीर छोड़लन । तीन भाई के तीर एक दने गेल आउ छोटका के तीर दोसर दने चल गेल। सबहे अप्पन तीर के पता लगावे ला चललन । तीन भाई के तीर के पता तो चल गेल कि एगो राजा के तीन गो बेटी हथ, ओही ले ले हथ। राजकुमार ऊ राजा के पास जाके पूछलन कि अपने के बेटी हमनी के तीर ले ले हथ। ओही तीर ला हमनी अयली हे। राजा महल में पूछौलन तो पता चलल कि ठीक उनकर बेटी तीर ले ले हथ । बाकि ओहनी कहलन कि तीर तबे देम जब ओहनी हमनी से सादी कर लेतन। तीनो भाई अपने में राय-मसवरा करके बिआह लागी तइयार हो गेलन । चट मँड़वा, पट भतवान आउ विआह हो गेल ।

चारो भाई कुछ दिन उहवाँ पर रहलन। फिन रोसगदी कराके घरे चललन तब छोटका भाई सोचलक कि सबहे भाई के तीर मिल गेल आउ बिआहो हो गेल बाकि हमर तीरो नऽ मिलल। से तीनो भाई रोसगद्दी करा के घरे चल गेलन आउ छोटका भाई अप्पन तीर खोजे चल गेलन। सगरो खोजलन बाकि कनहूँ न मिलत तो अछता-पछता के रुख-बिरीछ पर देखे लगलन तो लौकल कि एगो बनरी उनकर तीर लेले हे। बनरी से तीर ला खूब घिघियलन बाकि तइयो ऊ तीर न देलक। बनरी कहलक कि तीन भाई तो सादी करकथुन तो तीर मिललइन, जब तूहूँ हमारा से बिआह करबऽ तऽ तीर देबव। एतना सुन के राजा के लड़का असमंजस में पड़ गेलन कि लोग देखतन-सुनतन तो का कहतन? फिर सोचलन कि बोलाय से, गछ लेव तो तीर दे देत। से विचार करके बिआह करे ला गछ लेलन। सेकरे पर बनरी कहलक कि तू सेनूर देवे तब तीर देबवऽ । लचार होके छोटका राजकुमार सेनूर दे देलन। फिन ऊ तीर दे देलक आउ कहलक कि अब हमरा घरे ले चलऽ ।

राजकुमार कहलन कि चल, हम चलइत ही। बनरी बोलल कि का हम पैदल चलबवऽ ? राजकुमार कहलन कि जंगल में डोली-महाफा कहाँ से ले अइअऊ ? से तू हमर घोड़ा पर बइठ आउ साथे चल। ऊ बनरी कहलक कि अपने जरा आँख बंद करीं। राजकुमार आँख बंद कयलन तो तुरंत हीरा जवाहरात जड़ल डोली-महाफा आउ कहार आ गेलन । बनरी ओही पर चढ़ गेल आउ राजा के बेटा ओकर लिया चललन। जब डोली दुरा पर पहुँचल आउ अउरत ओकरा उतारे लगलन तो बनरी खोंय देन कयलक। सबहे डरते-डरते ओकरा डोली पर से उतार देलन आउ हबेली में ले गेलन। राजा के छोटका लड़का जब भोजन करे जाथ, तो देखथ कि सब भाई के मेहरारू पंखा हौक के खिआव हथ, आउ हमर बनरी खोंय-खोंय करे लगऽ हथ । एही खीसे ऊ रोज बनरी के दू-चार डंटा आउ लाती मार हलन। बनरी सोचे कि कइसन बेकूफ मरद से पाला परल हे ।

एक रात बनरी कहलक कि अपने हमरा अइसे काहे मारइत रहऽ ही? सेकरा पर राजा के लड़का बोलल कि सबके अउरत बढ़िया हथ आउ बढ़िया से खिआवऽ पिआवऽ हथ । तेकरा पर बनरी कहलक कि तोरा हमर सूरत देखे के मन हवऽ ? तऽ जरा अपन आँख मून लऽ । जब राजा के लड़का आँख मूनलन तो बनरी अप्पन रूप बदललक । राजा के लड़का देखलन तो ओकर सूरत देख के उनका गस्ती मार देलक। कुछ देर बाद होस आयल तो बनरी कहलक कि पहिलहीं न कहलिवऽ हल कि हम्मर सूरत देख के मूरछा मार देतवऽ । बनरी इन्दरासन के मेठ परी हल जेकर नाम हल हँसती परी। फिन ऊ तुरंत बनरी के रूप में हो गेल। फिन तो राजा के लड़का बड़ी खुस भेलन।

एक दिन छोटा लड़का अपन बाप के साथे दरबार में बइठल हलन। बात-बात में राजा साहब कहलन कि सबहे बेटा तो अंगेया दे के खिलवलन बाकि आज तक तू बेटा कभी अंगेया माँग के नऽ खिलवलऽ हे हमरा। हमरा लचार होके मुँह खोले पड़ गेल। छोटका बेटा तनी देर चुप रहलऽ, फिर कहलक कि बापजान आज तोरा अंगेया हे। एतना कहके छोटका बेटा घरे से भाग गेलन ।

ई सबहे बात बनरी के मालूम हो गेल। ऊ नउवा के बोला के कहलन कि गाँव-घर के सब परजा के कह दे कि छोटका राजा के तरफ से अंगेया हे । बनरी अप्पन कोठरी में तीन सौ साठो परी के बोलौलक आउ छप्पन प्रकार के तरकारी बनौलक, सात रंग के मेवा-मिठाई । फिन राजा के बोलौलक। बनरी भंडारी बनल आउ तीन सौ साठो परी के भोजन परोसे ला लगौलक। जब राजा भोजन करे लगलन तो असमंजस में पड़ गेलन कि कहवाँ से एतना सुन्नर-सुन्नर लड़की से विआह करलक हे । एतना बढ़िया भोजन करके राजा सोचइत हथ कि एतना बढ़िया भोजन तो कभी देखली-सुनली न हल।

राजा के खयला के बाद सब परजा के बोला के सोना के परात, लोटा-गिलास आउ तस्तरी में सबहे चीज परोसलक। सबहे परजा खाके थई-थई हो गेलन आउ कहे लगलन कि अइसन भोजन तो कहिनो न खयली हल । सब लोग खा-पी लेलन तो कहल गेल कि सब अप्पन-अप्पन खायल छीपा लोटा-बर्तन के लेले जाथ। परजा लोग सोना के बरतन लेके खुसी-खुसी थई-थई होइत घरे चल गेलन। जब साँझ खानी छोटका राजकुमार घरे घुरल आवइत हलन, तब परजा से सुनलन कि अपने के औरत आज एतना बढ़िया चीज खाय ला देलन कि ओइसन आज तक हमनी न देखली सुनली हल। छोटका लड़का मजाक समझ के खिसिअयलन बाकि घरे अयलन तो सब बात सच मालुम भेल।

जब रात के महल में गेलन तो बनरी से पूछलन कि अइसे काहे अप्पन रूप बनवले हे? बनरी अप्पन सराप के सब हाल कह सुनवलक कि अब हम्मर मृत्युभुवन पर के मेयाद पूरल जाइत हे। थोड़े दिना के बाद हम इन्द्रपुरी में चल जबवऽ तब तोरा हमरा से भेंट ना होतवऽ । सेकरा पर राजा कहलन कि हम कइसे रहब । एकरे पर बनरी एगो बाँसुरी देलक आउ कहलक कि जब इच्छा होतवऽ तो बाँसुरी बजा दीहऽ, हम चल अबवऽ। एतना कह सुन के बनरी इन्द्रासन में चल गेल।

जब राजा के इच्छा होवऽ हल तब बाँसुरी बजा देवथ आउ हँसती परी चल आवे । दूनो रात भर ऐस-मौज करथ आउ फिन हँसती परी इन्द्रासन में चल जाथ । राजकुमार बाँसुरी बराबर अप्पन तकेया के नीचे रखऽ हलन। कुछ दिन के बाद उनकर भगिनी आयल। ऊ सभे ममानी के देखे बाकि छोटकी ममानी के कबहुँ नऽ देखे। से एक दिन ऊ सोचलक कि छोटकी ममानी के देखे के चाहीं। जब छोटका मामा सिकार खेले चल गेलन हल, तब ऊ उनकर कोठरी में गेल आउ उनकर पलंग पर सूतल तो ओकर कपार के नीचे कुछ चीज गड़ल, तो बिछावन उठा के देखलक कि एगो बाँसुरी हे । ऊ बाँसुरी बजा देलक । बजते के भीतर हँसती परी आ गेल । जब कोठरी में अप्पन पति के नऽ देखलक आउ एगो अउरत के देखलक तो ओकरा अइसन उठा के पटकलक कि लड़की मर गेल आउ बाँसुरी लेके ऊ चल देलक।

इहाँ जब लड़की मर गेल तऽ सभे रोवे-पीटे लगलन । छोटका लड़का भी आन के अप्पन कोठरी में गेलन। भगिनी के मरे से उनकर मन उदास हो गेल हल। सेई से बाँसुरी उठा के बजावे खातिर तकेया तर खोजलन। फिन आउ सगरो खोजलन बल्कि बाँसुरी कहीं न मिलल। ओही घड़ी से हाय बाँसुरी, हाय बाँसुरी, कह के चिल्लाय लगलन। सब कोई कहलन कि राजा के बेटा पागल हो गेलन हे । से एक दिन आधी रात के समय घरे से भाग गेलन।

ऊ बनरी के खोजइत-खोजइत बड़ी दूर तक चल गेलन। ऊ समुन्दर किनारे पहुँचलन तो एगो धोबी कपड़ा धोवइत हल । ओही में हँसती परी के कपड़ा लौकल। जाके राजा के लड़का धोबिन के पांव लागी मौसी, कहलन । धोबिन बोलल कि जीअ बबुआ, हम तोरा चिन्हइत नऽ हिवऽ । ई पर राजा के लड़का बोललन कि जहिना तोर गवना होलवऽ हल ओही दिन हम्मर जनम भेल हल। एकरा बाद धोबिन अप्पन बहिन-बेटा समझ के उनकर खूब मान आदर कयलक। धोबिन कपड़ा धोवइत हल । राजा के लड़का कहलन, लावऽ ना मौसी, तह लगा दीवऽ। राजा के लड़का तीन गो कपड़ा के तह लगौलन आउ बनरी (हँसती परी) के कपड़ा में तह लगावे लगलन तो ओही में अप्पन हाथ के अँगूठी तहिया देलन। फिन तहियावे लागी छोड़ देलन। धोबि‍न कहलक कि जा बेटा घरे, हम इन्द्रासन में कपड़ा देले आवइत ही।

धोबिन जब इन्द्रासन में कपड़ा ले गेल, तो देरी के कारण सभे बड़ी खिसिआय लगलन। तब ऊ बोलल कि हमर बहिन-बेटा आयल हल, सेई से जरा देरी हो गेल। सब परी अप्पन-अप्पन कपड़ा पहिन के चल गेलन। हँसती परी जइसहीं अप्पन कपड़ा के तह उघारलक तइसहीं ओकरा अँगूठी मिलल। अँगूठी के पहचान गेल आउ धोबिन से पूछलक कि सचमुच में ऊ तोर बहिन-बेटा हऊ धोबिन ? धोबिन बोलल कि हाँ ! हँसती परी मन में सोचलक कि ऊ हमरा खातिर जात भी गवाँ देलन। एकरा पर धोबिन से कहलक कि अप्पन बहिन-बेटा के खूब बढ़ियाँ से खिलइहें-पिलइहें आउ कल्ह उनका अपना साथे जरा लेते अइहे नऽ। जब धोबिन घरे आयल तो राजा पूछलन कि ए मौसी कि ओहनी कुछ बोलतो हलथुन। ना बाबू, खाली हँसती परी कहइत हल कि जरा अप्पन बहिन-बेटा के साथ लेते अइहें ।

दोसर दिन धोबिन बहिन-बेटा के इन्द्रासन में लेले गेल। राजा बनरी (हँसती परी) के देख के कहलन कि हमरा छोड़ के तू इहाँ चल अयला, हम कइसे जीयब? सेकरे पर बनरी कहलक कि हम इन्द्रासन के परी ही जब तक इन्द्र महराज से हुकुम नऽ लेबऽ तब तक हम कइसे जायब? बाकि एगो उपाय बतावइत हिवऽ, ओइसही करिहँऽ। तीसो दिन की तरह आज भी नाच होतवऽ । तबलची बड़ी गँजेड़ी हे, तू ढेर मानी गाँजा लेके तबलची के बगल में बइठ जइहँ, आउ हाली हाली गाँजा बना के ओकरा ताबड-तोड़ पिलइहँऽ । तब तबलची नीसा में हो जतवऽ तब इन्द्र महाराज खिसिया के दूसर तबलची खोजिहें। एकरे पर झट से तू तबलवा बजावे लगिहँऽ। आउ हम खूब नचबवऽ। नाच देख के इन्द्र महराज तोरा इनाम माँगे कहतथुन। जब तीन बचन दे देथुन, तब तू हमरा माँग लिहऽ ।

दोसर दिन राजा के लड़का ओइसहीं कयलक आउ तबलची के नीसा आ गेला पर कइसहुँ ऊ तबला बजवलक, बाकि ऊ दिन हँसती परी खूब नाचल । इन्द्र महाराज खुस होके तबलची से इनाम माँगे ला कहलन, तो ऊ तीन बचन लेके हँसती परी के माँग लेलक। बचन हार के इन्द्र महराज बड़ी मन मसोस के हँसती परी के ले जाय ला हुकुम देलन । उहाँ से हँसती परी आउ राजा के लड़का अप्पन राज में चल अयलन आउ खुसी से रहे लगलन।

Once upon a time, there was a king who had four sons. One day, those four brothers went hunting in the forest. There, each of them let fly their arrows. The arrows of three brothers went one way, while the youngest brother's arrow went in another direction. All of them set out to find their arrows. They soon learned that the arrows of the three brothers had hit the three daughters of a king. The princes went to that king and asked if his daughters had their arrows. They informed the king that they had come for the arrows. Upon inquiring in the palace, it was revealed that indeed, those arrows had struck the king's daughters. However, the king said he would only return the arrows if the brothers married his daughters. The three brothers discussed among themselves and agreed to get married. A grand wedding was swiftly arranged, and they got married.

The four brothers stayed there for a few days. Then, after the wedding celebrations, they returned home. The youngest brother thought that while his brothers had found their arrows and gotten married, he had not found his arrow. So, the three brothers prepared to head back home after celebrating the wedding, and the youngest brother set out to find his arrow. He searched everywhere, but he could not find it. Just as he was about to return disappointed, he looked up at the trees and saw that a female monkey had his arrow. He pleaded with the monkey to return the arrow, but she refused to give it back. The monkey said that the three brothers had married, and she would only give back the arrow if he would marry her too. Hearing this, the king's son was perplexed about what people would say if they found out. After thinking for a moment, he decided to agree to marry her. Then the monkey insisted that he must give her a bridal gift before she would return the arrow. Reluctantly, the youngest prince gave her a bridal gift, and then she handed him the arrow and said, "Now take me home."

The prince said, "Come, let’s go." The monkey responded, "Will we walk?" The prince replied, "How can we carry a palanquin in the jungle?" So, she asked him to shut his eyes. As soon as the prince closed his eyes, a beautifully adorned palanquin with bearers appeared. The monkey climbed into it, and the king’s son went along with her. When they reached the palace, and the woman started to get down, the monkey cried out. Everyone, scared, helped her down from the palanquin and took her to their chamber.

When the king's son was at the dinner table, he saw that all his brothers’ wives were fanning them and serving food, while his monkey was just making noises. Because of this, he daily gave the monkey a few slaps and scolded her. The monkey thought about how she was stuck with a foolish man.

One night, the monkey asked, "Why do you keep hitting me like this?" To which the prince replied, "Everyone else's wives treat them well and serve them nicely." The monkey responded, "Do you want to see my true form?" The prince said, "Well, shut your eyes." When the prince closed his eyes, the monkey transformed into a beautiful fairy known as Hansi Pari, who originally came from Indralok. When the prince opened his eyes and saw her real appearance, he was astonished. After a while, the monkey said, "Did you not warn that my appearance would make you faint?"

One day, the youngest prince was sitting with his father in the court. The king mentioned casually that while he had fed all his sons with feasts, his youngest son had never asked him for a feast. The prince, feeling compelled, opened his mouth. After a brief silence, the youngest son said, "Father, today I want a feast." Saying this, the youngest son ran home.

The monkey learned about all of this. She instructed a boatman to tell everyone in the village that the young king was hosting a grand feast. The monkey then summoned three hundred and sixty fairies and prepared fifty-six varieties of food, as well as delicacies of seven different colors. The king was called. The monkey became the caretaker and began serving food to the three hundred and sixty fairies. When the king began to eat, he felt confused about how a beautiful woman like this could manage to organize such a feast. After enjoying the magnificent food, the king thought that he had never experienced such a feast before.

After finishing the meal, the king instructed that gold plates, bowls, cups, and everything else be served. Everyone was delighted and exclaimed that they had never had such a meal. Once everyone finished eating, it was said that everyone should take their own bowls and dishes home. The guests joyfully took the golden utensils and returned home. When the youngest prince returned home in the evening, he heard from the villagers that his wife had provided such wonderful food, unlike anything they had seen before. The youngest prince laughed thinking it was a joke, but once he got home, he realized the truth.

That night, when he entered the palace, he asked the monkey why she had changed her appearance. The monkey explained the entire situation regarding her curse, stating that her deadline was nearing. In a few days, she would have to return to Indralok, and after that, they wouldn’t meet again. The prince asked, "Then how will I survive?" The monkey then offered that she would give him a remedy: "Just like before, there will be a dance today as well. There’s a drummer who’s a heavy drinker; you should sit near him with a lot of marijuana and slowly feed him the drink until he gets drunk. When he is inebriated, the King of Indra will look for another drummer. At that moment, you start drumming. I will dance a lot. Upon seeing your performance, King Indra will ask for a reward. When he grants three wishes, you should ask for me."

The next day, the prince followed the monkey's instructions. The drummer got drunk, but that day, the fairy danced immensely. King Indra, pleased with the performance, asked the drummer for a reward. The drummer took three wishes and asked for the fairy. After losing in the wager, King Indra, greatly disappointed, ordered the fairy to be taken away. From that place, the fairy and the youngest prince returned to their kingdom, where they lived happily ever after.
