The story conveys a sense of celebration and camaraderie among travelers as they share food and experiences. It emphasizes the joy derived from simple pleasures such as sharing a meal—bread and ghee-filled dishes—and the sounds of happiness that emerge from these moments. The repeated refrain suggests that joy is a profound experience that transcends explanation, encouraging enjoyment in the company of friends without overanalyzing its meaning. Overall, the narrative captures the essence of communal joy and the richness of shared cultural experiences.

Red flour for bread, and a ghee-filled feast,
We travelers enjoy, when you eat, the sounds of joy burst forth.

Oh, my friend, don’t ask what joy means, don’t ask what joy means.

An upper room with a bed laid out,
You and I, travelers, let’s enjoy, and then the sounds of joy will play.

Oh, my friend, don’t ask what joy means, don’t ask what joy means.

Long stalks, old leaves, a bunch of fennel and pepper,
Bring in the bhang and let’s celebrate, and then the sounds of joy will play.

This, my friend, is the true meaning of joy, this is the true meaning of joy.
