एक बड़ा भारी सहर में एगो राजा हलन। राजा के सात रानी हलन । बाकि सातो रानी में एक्को लड़का न हल। एक समय राजा जंगल में सिकार खेले गेल हलन, से ओही जंगल में एक दैत्य के सुन्दर लड़की जार-बेजार रो रहल हल । लड़की के पास राजा जाके पूछलन कि तू अकेले जंगल-झार में बइठ के काहे रोइत हैं। से ई पर लड़की बोलल कि हमरा मरदाना एही जगह बइठा के कने तो चल गेलन। एही लागी हम बइठ के रोइत ही । एकरे पर राजा कहलन कि तू हमरा साथे चलवे? तब लड़की राजी हो गेल। राजा ओकरा अप्पन घोड़ा पर बइठा के राजमहल में ले अयलन । राजा के पहचान में न आयल कि लड़की दैत्य के हे। ऊ बड़ी सुन्दर हल से ई से राजा ओकरा साथ काफी प्रेम रखे लगलन।

एकरा बाद ऊ लड़की राजा के सातो रानी के जान मारे ला उपाय रचे लगल । सातो रानी में छोटकी गर्भवती हल। एक दिन नइकी रानी सातो रानी के कुइयाँ में धँसोर देलक । कुइयाँ में गिरते पानी सूख गेल। तब सातो रानी ओही में अप्पन दिवस काटे लगलन । छोटकी रानी के उहईं एगो लड़का जनम लेलक । ऊ एक जौ रोज बढ़े। सातो रानी ओकरा बड़ी प्यार से पाले-पोसे लगलन ।

जब लड़का कुछ बड़ा गो भेल तो कहलक कि ए माय, हम जाइत हीअऊ कुछ नौकरी करे। बइठे से काम-धाम न चलतउ । काहे से कि हमनी आठ परानी ही । से हाल रोजगार कइसे चलत ।

लड़का उहाँ से चलल आउ ओही राजा के दरबार में, जउन ओकर बाप हल, जाके राजा के सलाम कयलक आउ कहलक कि हम नौकरी करम। राजा बोलल कि तू कउन काम करबें । लड़का कहलक कि जउन काम अपने के सिपाही न करते ओही काम हम करम । राजा पता-ठेकाना पूछ के ओकरा अपने पास रखे लगलन । बराबर अपने बगल में बइठवले रहऽ हलन।

एक दिन दैत्य के लड़की देखलक तो मन में छव-पाँच करे लगल कि हो न होए हम्मर सइतिनिये के लइका नियत लगइत हे। काहे कि राजा से एकरा सब सूरत मिलइत-जुलइत हे । राजा-रानी के खूब मान हलन। रानी लड़का के जान मरवावे खातिर उपाय सोचे लगल । रानी राजा से कहलन कि हम्मर मइया के अभी तक मरे-जीये के खबर न मिलल हे। से ई खबर लावे खातिर कउनो सिपाही के भेज दीहीं ।

एही बात पर राजा दरबार के सिपाही आउ अरदली के हुकुम देलन कि फलाँ दनुआ-मनुआ के जंगल में रानी के नैहर हे । उहईं से रानी के माय के समाचार लावे लागी हे। सबे सिपाही उहाँ जाय से नाहीं छाहीं करे लगलन । तब ओही में से एगो बूढ़ा सिपाही बोलल कि भूअबरा जिला के बाबू के काहे न भेजइत ही? काहे कि ई ओही दिन कहलन हे कि जउन काम सिपाही न करत ओही काम हम करम । एही बारी तो ओकरा परीक्षा खातिर आयल हे।

राजा लड़का से कहलन कि तोरा फलाने जंगल में जाय ला होतो । लड़का चटपट तैयार हो गेल आउ कहलक कि हमरा छव महीना के बारह मन सामान आउ बीस गो रुपआ, राह के खर्ची-बर्ची ला चाहीं । राजा खजांची के हुकुम देलन । सामान आउ रूपेआ मिल गेल । लड़का अप्पन माय के कुआँ में सब सामान जा के देलक आउ कहलक कि हम कुछ दिन के बाद आ जायम, घबड़इहें मत ।

लड़का चिट्ठी लेके चलल । रानी चिट्ठी में लिख देलक हल कि मइया के मालूम कि लड़का हमर सइतन के हे। देखइत के साथ हाड़े-माँस के पता न लगे दीहें तभी तोरा कुसल होतउ । लड़का चिट्ठी-पतरी लेके चल देलक। राह में एगो पोखरा पर पानी ऊनी पीए लगल तो दूसर राह से एगो बराह्मन आवइत हलन। लड़का चिट्ठी देके कहलक कि ए ब्राह्मन देवता, ई चिठिआ में का लिखल हे? ब्राह्मन बाँचलन तो कहलन कि अरे बच्चा, तू उहाँ से कुसल छेम का लयबे कि उहाँ से तोहर परान लउटे के भी आसा-उम्मीद न हउ । लड़का बोलल कि बाबा कउन उपाय करे के चाहीं । अच्छा अपने के पास कलम पेन्सिल हे तो लिख दीहीं कि मइया के मालूम कि लड़का हम्मर बेटा जाइत हे। कोई तरह के दुःख-तखलीफ न होवे दीहें। न तो हम तोर हाड़-माँस के पता न लगे देवउ ।

लड़का चिट्ठी लेके जाइत-जाइत दनुआ-मनुआ के जंगल में जा पहुँचल । उहाँ पहुँचल तो दैतवन छिः मानुस, छिः मानुस, हहास करके खाय ला दउड़ल। लड़का झट से चिट्ठी ओकरा आगे में फेंक देलक । चिट्ठी पढ़लक तो कहलक कि सौ बरस पर एगो मानुस मिलल तो नाति के नाता लगौलक । ओकरा कहाँ उठाऊँ कहाँ बइठाऊँ, से खूब सो आगत करे लगल । गते-गते ऊ लड़का घरे के बारे में सब चीज जाने-समझे लगल।

रोज दैत्य सगरो दिया-सँझुउत करे बाकि एगो कोठरी में तुरत ताला लगा के छोड़ देवे। एकरा पर लइका के सक हो गेल । एक दिन ओही सँझउत के बेरा गेल तो देखलक कि एगो दरखा पर सात को अंटा रखल है । नानी से कहलक कि नानी-नानी, ई अंटवन हमरा खेले ला दे ! तूं चल जा हें तो हमरा मन न लगे हे। लड़का खेले खातिर अँटा लेवे ला जिद करे लगल। एकरे पर बुढ़िया बोलल कि दुर नतिया, तूं बड़ी सोख हे। अंटा खेले ला हे? तोहर मइया के सात गो सउतिन हउ, ओकरे अँखिआ निकाल के इहाँ भेज देकउ हे। एकरा बाघिन के दूध में रात भर फूले ला रख देतइ दूध आउ खूब सबेरे आँख में बइठा देतइ तो फिनो पहिले के आँख निअन लौके लगतइ । लड़का सुनके कहलक कि रहे देहीं तब ।

एकरा बाद एगो कोना में छोटी गो छेकुनी लौकल तो कहलक कि ए नानी, छेकुनिया हमरा गुल्ली-डंडा खेले ला दे दे तो ठीक हे। फिनो बुढ़िया कहलक कि दुर नतिया, तूं बड़ी सोख हैं। ई खेले ला हई? एकरा में ई गुन हे कि एक दने से जेकरा सूँघा देवहीं तो मर जतउ आउ दूसर दने से सूँघा देवहीं तो जी उठतउ । लड़का कहलक ति तब रहे देहीं नानी !

एक दिन दैतिन बाहर गेल तो ताखा से कुंजी उतार के ताला खोललक आउ सातो आँख आउ छेकुनी लेके बाहर एक जुगुन लुका देलक । अइसहीं ताला भर देलक । जब दैतिन आयल आउ रात में खा पी के सूतल गेल तो लड़का गते गते उठल आउ झटपट छेकुनी के एक छोर सूँघा देलक । दैतिन तुरत मर गेल। एकरा बाद लड़का तुरत आँख आउ छेकुनी लेके उहाँ से चल देलक ।

घरे आके आँख रख देलक आउ रानी के सब हाल-चाल कह सुनवलक । जब अप्पन माय के मरे ला सुनलक तो खूब रोलक-पिटलक। कुछ दिन बीतल तो फिन रानी पेट दुखाय के बहाने से बाघिन के दूध लागी हुकुम देलक । तब लड़का जाय ला तइयार हो गेल । रहता के खर्ची-बर्ची लेलक आउ अपन माय के पास जा के धर देलक आउ कहलक कि हम थोड़े दिन में बाघिन के दूध ले के चल आयम ।

जाइत-जाइत ऊ एगो घनघोर जंगल में पहुँचल । देखलक कि दूगो बाघ के बच्चा अप्पन माँद भीर खेलइत हल। राह में से चार-पाँच सेर लड़-मिठाई ले लेलक हल। आउ जाइत के साथ दूनो बच्चा के नजीक सभे मिठाई फेंक देलक। जब बाघ के बच्चा सभे मिठाई खा गेल तो ओकरा पर खूब खुस भेल। जब बाघ-बाघिन खाय ला ओकरा पर तड़पल तब बाघ के बच्चा सभे हाल कहलक आउ बोलल कि हम तोहर दूध न पीबउ। एकरे पर बाघिन कहलक कि जेतना दूध ओकरा चाहीँ ओतना ऊ दूह ले । एतना सुन के बाघ के बच्चा दूध पिलक आउ लड़का के एक टहरी दूध देलक।

जब घरे चले लगल तो बाघिन के बच्चा बोलल कि भइया हम हूँ चलब । तो लड़का एगो बाघ पर चढ़ गेल आउ एगो पर दूध के टहरी रख के चल देलक । घरे आन के दूध में आँख फूले ला रात भर रख देलक। सुबह होयते सातो माय के आँख में बइठा देलक । पहिलही जइसन सबके आँख हो गेल। सब बड़ी प्रसन हो गेलन ।

एकरा बाद ऊ बाघ के बच्चा के साथ रोज अप्पन दुहारी पर खेल हल। जब राजा के मालूम होयल कि भूअबरा जिला के बाबू घरे आयल हे आउ बाघ के साथ खेलइत रहऽ हे तो राजा अप्पन सिपाही के बोलावे ला भेजलन । तब लड़का कहलक कि जो, जो, हम राजा के पास न जायम। आवे ला हइन तो इहई से बाघिन के दूध ले जाथुन । सिपाही जा के राजा से कहलक ।

राजा सुनके बड़ी गुस्सा होयल बाकि सोचलन कि जरूर कोई-न-कोई बात है । तब राजा हाथी पर चढ़के अयलन तो लड़का कहलन कि जरा कुइयाँ में झाँक के देखऽ । राजा जा के देखलन तो सातो रानी ऊपरे राजा के देख के कहलन, तोरा सरम न लगइत हवऽ राजा ! अप्पन लड़का के जान मरवे खातिर दैतिन के लड़की केतना उपाय कयलक आउ तू अप्पन लड़का के भी न पहचानलऽ । एतना सब सुनके राजा दाँते अंगुरी काटलन ।

एकरा बाद सातो रानी आउ लड़का के डोली कहार पर चढ़ा के राजमहल में ले गेलन आउ कहलन कि अब सब अधिकार लड़का के दे देली। जे मन में आवे से ई लड़का नई रानी के साथ करथ । लड़का नइकी रानी के गड़हरा खोदवा के भरवा देलक आउ सभे मिल के बढ़िया से राज-पाट करे लगलन ।

Once upon a time, there was a king in a large city. The king had seven queens, but none of the queens had a son. One day, the king went hunting in the forest, where he saw a beautiful girl weeping in distress. The king approached her and asked why she was sitting alone in the jungle crying. The girl replied that her husband had gone away from that very spot, and that is why she was sitting there crying. The king then asked her to accompany him, and the girl agreed. He brought her back to the palace on his horse. The king did not realize that the girl was a demon. She was very beautiful, and thus the king began to fall in love with her.

After this, the girl began to devise ways to kill all seven queens. One of the queens was pregnant. One day, the new queen pushed all the other queens into a well. When they fell in, the water dried up. The seven queens began to spend their days there. The younger queen gave birth to a son right there. He grew up quickly, and the seven queens began to care for him with great love.

As the boy grew a bit older, he said to his mother, "I will go to find a job. Sitting idly will not work for us because we are eight people."

The boy left and went to the king’s court, which was his father's, and saluted the king, saying he was looking for work. The king asked him what work he would do. The boy replied that he would do whatever work the soldiers did not do. After inquiring about his background, the king kept him close, always sitting beside him.

One day, seeing the demon girl, he thought to himself that she must be the girl promised to him. This was because she resembled the king quite a bit. The king and queen held him in high regard. The queen began to think of ways to kill the boy. She told the king that she had not received any news about her mother. "Send a soldier to bring news about my mother."

Hearing this, the king commanded his soldiers and attendants to send a soldier to the jungle, where the queen's maternal home was located, to bring back news. The soldiers did not want to go. Then one old soldier suggested sending the boy from Bhuabra district, saying, "He claimed he would do the work that the soldiers do not." This was a good opportunity for his test.

The king instructed the boy to go to the specified forest. The boy immediately got ready and said he would require twelve measures of supplies and twenty rupees for his journey. The king ordered the treasurer to provide the supplies and money. The boy went to his mother’s well, dropped all the provisions there, and told her, “I will return after a few days; do not worry.”

The boy set off with a letter. The queen had written that her mother knew the boy belonged to his rival. She warned him to be careful not to reveal his identity so that he could return safely. The boy took the letter and continued his journey. Along the way, he stopped at a pond to drink water when a Brahmin passed by. The boy handed him the letter and asked, "O Brahmin, what does this letter say?" The Brahmin read it and replied, "O child, what peace do you expect from there? You are not likely to return home." The boy asked what he should do. The Brahmin suggested writing that the mother knows the boy is going back to his mother’s house without any trouble or pain.

The boy continued on his way and finally reached the jungle where the demon lived. Upon arrival, the demoness shouted, "Alas, a human! Alas, a human!" and ran to eat him. The boy quickly threw the letter in front of her. When she read the letter, she remarked that it had been a hundred years since any human had claimed such a relationship. Confused about how to treat him, she started losing patience. As the day passed, the boy learned all about the home.

Every day, the demoness would prepare a meal but then immediately lock the boy in a room. This raised the boy’s suspicions. One evening, when she had gone out, he took the key and unlocked the door, then took the eyes and the baby demon outside and hid them. He locked the door again. When the demoness returned and went to bed after dinner, the boy woke up and quickly gave one of the demon baby’s eyes to the baby demon. The demoness instantly died. After that, the boy immediately took the eyes and baby demon and left.

He returned home, placed the eyes carefully, and told the queen everything that had happened. When his mother heard of the demon's death, she cried a lot. A few days later, the queen again ordered for milk from a she-tiger under the pretext of having a stomach ache. The boy got ready to go, packed some supplies, and went to his mother, assuring her that he would return soon with the she-tiger's milk.

On his way, he reached a dense forest. There he saw two tiger cubs playing outside their den. Along the way, he grabbed four or five sweets and, as he walked past, threw the sweets close to the tiger cubs. When the cubs ate the sweets, they were very happy. When the tiger and tigress felt hungry, the tiger cubs said that they would not drink the boy’s milk. The tigress replied that whatever milk they needed, they should take it. Listening to this, the cubs shared their milk with the boy, giving him some too.

As he was about to leave, the tiger cub said, “Brother, I will come along too.” The boy climbed onto one tiger and placed the milk on the back of the other, and they headed off together. Upon reaching home, he placed the milk in the eyes and let it sit overnight. By morning, he placed it in the eyes of all seven mothers. Their vision returned to normal, just like before. Everyone was very happy.

After that, he played with the tiger cub every day. When the king learned that the boy from Bhuabra district was home and playing with the tiger, he sent for his soldiers. But the boy insisted that he would not go to the king. He said if the king wanted to see him, he could come there himself to take the milk.

The soldiers returned and reported this to the king. Hearing this, the king became very angry but thought there must be some reason behind it. So, the king rode an elephant and approached, at which point the boy said, “Look into the well.” When the king peered down, the seven queens looked up at him and said, “Don’t you feel ashamed, O king? The demoness has made so many attempts to kill your own son, and you still do not recognize him.” Upon hearing all of this, the king bit his fingers in shock.

After this, all seven queens and the boy were carried back to the palace in a palanquin, and it was declared that all rights would be given to the boy. The boy could do whatever he wanted with the new queen. The boy had the new queen dig a pit, filling it with all his desires, and they all began to rule together happily.
