एगो राजा के चार गो बेटा हलन। जब बेटा सब पढ़-लिख के तइयार हो गेलन, तो राजा कहलन कि तोहनी अप्पन-अप्पन काम बतावऽ। ओकरा में से बड़का बेटा कहलक कि हम अभी पढ़बो। मँझिला कहलक कि हम तो नोकरी करबो। सँझिला कहलक कि हम तो गिरहस्ती करबो। छोटका बेटा बंस में लेढ़ा लगाबे खातिर चोर के रूप में जनम लेलक। राजा छोटका लड़का से कहलक कि 'ए बेटा, तू जब अप्पन माय के झुल्ला चोरा ले अयबऽ, तऽ हम मानब कि तूं सही चोर हऽ।

राजा के छोटका बेटा अप्पन महल में सेन्ह फोर के अप्पन माय के पास पहुँचल। गरमी के महीना हल। ओकर माय गरमी के मारे झुलवा काढ़ के खटिया पर रख देलक हल। ऊ झुल्ला उठा के ले भागल, आउ जा के बाबू जी के देखा देलक। राजा कहलन कि तू ठीके में पकिया चोर हें। राजा फिनो कहलन कि हम्मर बेटा तो बंस में तू लेढ़ा लगाइये देलऽ, बाकि हम तोरा सही माने में पकिया चोर तब समझवो, जब तू फलना राज से सात भुजाओला तरवार, आउ सामकरन घोड़ा चोरा के ले अयबऽ। बेटा कहलक कि 'बापजान, हम जरूर ला देम।' राजा बेटा के दिन-तारीख दे देलक। छोटका बेटा ओही दिन महल से चल देलक।

राजा ऊ देस के राजा के पास चिट्टी लिख के भेज देलक हल, कि हम्मर बेटा फलना दिन के सात भुजाओला तरवार, आउ सामकरन घोड़ा चोरावे तोर राज में जाइत हवऽ। अगर चोर पकड़ा जाय, तो जान से मार दीहँऽ। चोर के पहुँचे के पहिलहीं से राजा पहरा के इंतजाम करा देलक हल। चोर ओही राज में जाके एगो ठगनी बुढ़िया के घर में ठहर गेल। ऊ कहलक कि 'ए बूढ़ी माता, आज हम्मर भी खाना तू बना दऽ! पइसा लऽ!' बुढ़िया खाना बना के खिया-पिया देलक।

जब रात भेल आउ पहरा के अवाज आयल, तो चोर पूछलक ठगनी से, कि 'ए बूढ़ी माता, आज कउची के पहरा पड़इत हई?’ ठगनी कहलक कि 'ए बेटा, आज राजा हीं एगो चोर आवे के हई। ओकरे ला सिपाही पहरा देइत हई!' चोर ठगनी से कहलक कि 'ए माता, पइसा ले, आउ हमरा ला नउबा के एगो नोखर ला दे !' ठगनी बुढ़िया एगो नोखर ला देलक। राजा के बेटा नउवा के भेस बना के राजा हीं चलल। सिपाही तो अप्पन पहरा देइत हल। नउवा के देख के सिपाही चाल कैलक-. 'हीआँ आव! एतना रात बीते तक काहे टहल रहले हें? ऊ गोड़ पड़इत सिपाही के पास आयल -'सरकार, हम चार दिन से भुक्खल ही। आपे के देख के हम अइली हे कि पाँव-ऊँव दबायम तऽ कुछ हमरा मिल जायत, तो खाय के होयत। इहे ला हम ई बेरी घूमइत ही!'

फिनो ऊ सिपाही के पाँव दबावे लगल। सिपाही ओकरा देख के पूछलक कि 'तू एकरा कइसे बनैले हे?’ नउवा कहलक कि 'हम्मर बाबू जी धुरवा से मथवा के तीन-चार फाँक करके छील देलथिन, आउ ओकरा में मिचाई के बुकनी भर देलथिन, आउ कहलकथिन कि भर पोरसा पानी में जाके कूद जा!' सिपाही कहकई कि 'ए नउवा हमरो ओइसहीं कर दे!' नउवा चारो सिपहिअन के मथवा तीन-चार फाँक कर देलक, आउ ऊपरे से मिरचाई के बुकनी दे देलक। फिन कहलक कि जल्दी से जाके एही पोखरिया में कूद जा। चारो सिपहियन तो ओइसहीं करा के पोखरा में कूद गेलन, आउ नउवा सिपाही के पोसाक ले के भाग गेल। ऊ ठगनी बुढ़िया के घरे पहुँच गेल।

ओन्‍ने राजा अमला-बराहिल के भेजलक कि आज चोर जरूर पकड़ायल होयत। अमला-बराहिल देखलन कि चारो सिपाही के मार के पानी में डालल हे। राजा के खबर जना देल गेल, कि चोर तो नऽ पकड़ायल हे। दोसरका दिन दूसरा सिपाही पहरा देबे ला खोजाय लगल, बाकि पहरा देवे ला कोई तइयार नऽ होल। राजा बोललन कि 'आज हम अपने चोर के पकड़म, हम अपने पहरा देम, आउ चोर के मार डालम!' दरवाजा के केबाड़ी खुला छोड़ देल गेल।

चोर अउरत के भेस बनौलक, आउ सहर के चारो कोना पर एक-एक गो जाता रख देलक, आउ रात में जाँता पीसे लगल। राजा देखलक कि 'हम्मर राज में अभी तक कउन जाँता चला रहल हे? रात एतना बीत गेल हे!' राजा जा के पूछलक कि 'माई, तू कउन हें? एतना रात गेला काहे जाँता चलावइत हें? अउरत कहलक कि 'राजाजी, हम तीन बहिन ही, दिन भर माँगऽ ही, आउ ई बेरा पीस-कूट के खा ही!' राजा बारी-बारी से चारो कोना पर गेल। देखलक कि एही बात चारो कोना पर हे! राजा पूछलक कि 'इहाँ कोई आउ हऊ?

सामकरन घोड़ा पर सवार हो के, आउ सात भुजाओला तरवार ले के राजा पहरा देइत हल। औरतिया कहलक कि 'राजाजी, इहाँ एगो आउ मरदाना हवऽ, आउ जब तू चल जा हऽ, तब ऊ आवऽ हवऽ ! राजा कहलन कि 'तूं एगो उपाय करबे? अउरतिया कहलक कि का? राजा फिनो कहलन कि तूं हम्मर पोसाक पहिन के ई सामकरन घोड़ा पर सवार हो जो, आउ सात भुजाओला तरवार ले के पहरा दे। हम तोर पोसाक पेन्ह के पहरा दे हीअऊ! अउरत तइयार हो गेल। ऊ सामकरन घोड़ा, आउ सात भुजाओला तरवार ले के घोड़ा के दउड़यलक, आउ अप्पन बाप के राज में आ गेल। इहाँ राजा अपन छोटका बेटा के देख के अचरज में पड़ गेलन, कि उनकर बेटा सही में पकिया चोर भे गेल हे।

The eldest son said, "I want to continue studying." The middle son said, "I want to work." The youngest son said, "I want to manage a household." However, the youngest son chose to become a thief under the guise of seeking adventure. The king told the youngest son, "Son, when you steal a swing for your mother, then I will believe you are a true thief."

The king's youngest son sneakily went to his mother’s house. It was summer, and due to the heat, his mother had laid down a swing on the bed. He stole the swing and showed it to his father. The king said, "You are indeed a seasoned thief. But I will only consider you a true thief when you steal the seven-bladed sword and the valuable horse from a certain kingdom." The son replied, "Father, I will surely bring it." The king gave him a date and the youngest son set off from the palace that very day.

The king sent a letter to the other kingdom stating that on a specific day, his son would come to steal a seven-bladed sword and a valuable horse. If the thief is caught, he should be killed. The king prepared guards to catch the thief even before he arrived. The thief reached that kingdom and stayed at the house of a cunning old woman. He said to her, "Oh, elderly mother, please cook food for me today! Take this money!" The old woman prepared the food and served it to him.

When night fell and the guards made rounds, the thief asked the old woman, "Oh, elderly mother, what is the guard's plan tonight?" The old woman replied, "Oh son, tonight the king is expecting a thief. That’s why the soldiers are guarding!" The thief said, "Oh mother, take this money and give me a disguise as a fisherman!" The old woman gave him the fisherman’s attire. The king's son dressed as a fisherman and went towards the palace. The soldiers were patrolling, and seeing the fisherman, one soldier said, "Hey! Why are you wandering around at this hour?" The fisherman approached the soldier and said, "Sir, I haven’t eaten for four days. I came here hoping to find something to eat. That’s why I’m wandering around!"

Then he began to massage the soldier's feet. The soldier, seeing him, asked, "How did you become a fisherman?" The fisherman replied, "My father in the village had me cut and peel some fish, then he told me to jump into the water with it!" The soldier said, "Hey fisherman, do the same for me!" The fisherman massaged all four soldiers’ feet, then told them to quickly jump into the pond. All four soldiers followed his instructions and jumped into the pond, and the fisherman took off with the soldiers' uniforms. He returned to the cunning old woman’s house.

The king sent his servants to check if the thief had indeed been caught. The servants saw that the four soldiers had been knocked out and thrown into the water. The king was informed that the thief had not been caught. The next day, another soldier was assigned to keep watch, but no one was willing to take the duty. The king declared, "Today I will catch the thief myself. I will keep guard and I will kill the thief!" They left the door open.

The thief disguised himself as a woman and placed one lookout at each corner of the city, and at night began to grind grain. The king noticed, “Who is still grinding grain in my kingdom at this late hour?” The king went to ask, “Mother, who are you? Why are you grinding grain at this hour?” The woman replied, “Oh, Your Majesty, we are three sisters, begging all day, and at this hour, we grind grain to eat!" The king checked all four corners and saw the same situation everywhere! He then asked, "Is there anyone else here?"

Saddling the valuable horse and armed with the seven-bladed sword, the king himself kept watch. The women said, “Your Majesty, there is one more man around, and he comes when you leave!” The king asked, “Will you come up with a plan?” The woman replied, “What should I do?” The king said again, “You wear my clothes, ride this valuable horse, and keep watch with the seven-bladed sword. I will wear your clothes and keep watch here!” The woman agreed. She rode the horse and took the sword, then rode off and returned to her father’s kingdom. Here, the king was astonished to see his youngest son, realizing that his son had indeed become a seasoned thief.
