The Brahmin's son eventually marries her but harbors feelings of indifference due to her previous connection to the prince.As he becomes a scholar and teaches others, the wife disguises herself to learn from him and ultimately reveals her identity through a clever ruse involving a meal. The scholar learns not to judge his wife based on preconceived notions and accepts her as his equal. The story underscores the importance of understanding and not speaking ill of others without knowing their true circumstances.
कोय गाँव में एगो ब्राह्मण हलै । ओकरा एकी गो बेटा हलै। कुछ दिन में बप्पा मर गेलै । ओकर बेटवा काम-किरिया कर के निफिकिर भेलै। कुछ दिन के बाद माय-बेटा में झगड़ा होलै । तब बेटवा रूस करके भाग के जाय लगलै। केतनो समझावे से नै मानलै । भागते-भागते रस्तवा में एगो बूढ़ा मिललै। बुढ़वा कहलथिन जे ''तूं काहे ला भागल जा हें? तोरा जे जजमनिका हौ से के सम्हालतौ?'’ तब ऊ कहलकै कि ''हम जजमनिका नै सम्हारवै। हमरा पढ़े के मन कर है !'' तब बुढ़वा कहलथिन कि ''तू अप्पन जात से ही पढ़िहें, आउ कोय दूसर जात से नै पढ़िहें, चाहे कोय कुच्छो कहौ।'’ ऊ तीन-चार पाठशाला में पूछलकै तो ओकर जाति के नै मिललै । ओकर सादी होयल हलै ।
ऊ घूमते-घामते अपना ससुराल चल गेलै । ओकर ससुर पढ़ावऽ हलथिन, तो पूछलकै कि इहाँ कउन जात पढ़ावऽ हथिन। सब कहलकै कि इहाँ ब्राह्मण पढ़ावऽ हथिन। तब पूछलकै कि ''ए भाय, इहाँ हमहुँ पढ़वै। से गुरु जी पढ़ौथिन?'’ तब पूछे पर पता चललै कि गुरु जी पढ़ौथिन । ऊ तैहिना से उहाँ पढ़े लगलै। ओहीं से ओकरा खाय ला आवऽ हलै, बाकि उहाँ ऊ लड़कावा केकरो नै चीन्हलै, आउ ओकर ससुररिया के सभे परिवार ओकरा चीन्हऽ हलै।
ओही पठसलवा में एगो राजा के लड़का भी पढ़ऽ हलै । ऊ राजकुमार एक दिन खाना खाते देखलकै कि गुरु जी के लड़किया बड़ा बढ़िया हे। से ऊ ओकरा से सादी करे ला सोचलकै, आउ अपन माय-बाप से सब कहानी कह देलकै। ओकर बाप गुरु जी के अप्पन बेटिया से ओकर सादी ला कहलकै तो ऊ मंजूर कर लेलथिन । तब उनकर बेटिया कहलकै कि ''हमरा घर से लेके अपन घर तक सोना के रास्ता बना दऽ, आउ तालाब के बीच में एगो 'कपड़-घर' बना दऽ तब हम सादी करवै। राजा सब कुछ तइयार कर देलकै ।
सादी के दिन-ठेकाना पड़ गेलै, आउ राजकुमार के साथे 'कपड़-घर' में सादी होवे लगलै । तब लड़किया कहलकै कि ''ए राजकुमार ! तू सत्त हऽ तो एक मुट्ठी हुमाद पानी में बीग दऽ । ई जरे लगतौ तो हम तोरा से सादी करवै !'' राजकुमार हुमाद बीगलकै बाकि ऊ न जरलै । तब फिर लड़किया बिगलकै तब पनियाँ में हुमदिया जरे लगलै काहे कि लड़किया 'पतिव्रता' हलै। तब सादी न होयलै । लड़किया घर चल अयलै ।
जे लड़कावा पढ़े लागी अयलै हल, ओकरे साथै ऊ लड़किया के सादी होल हलै। से कुछ दिन में गौना होवे लगलै। गौना होके जब घर अयलै, तब लड़कावा सोचलकै कि ''एही लड़किया से नऽ राजकुमार के सदिया होवै हलै !'' एह कारन से लड़कावा अपन मेहररुआ के हाथे पकल नै खाय लगलै। ऊ लड़कवा पढ़के पंडित हो गेलै हलै। से एक तुरी जजमान के यहाँ पाठ करे ला गेलै । पठवा नौ दिन में खतम होते हल कि एकरे बीच ओकर मेहररुआ भेस बदल के ओही गाँव के बगीचा में जा के डेरा डालकै। एकर बाद ओही पंडितवा से ऊ भी पाठ करावे लगलै। पंडी जी नै चीन्हलथिन हल। पाठ जब खतम होलै तब भेसवा बदलले अउरतिया बहाना कर के पंडी जी के कबूतर के माँस खिला देलकै।
पाठ खतम होला के बाद मेहररुआ घर आ के अप्पन भेस ठीक कर लेलकै। पंडी जी अयलथिन तब खाना पका के देवे ला अयलै। पंडी जी खाय से इनकार कर देलथिन । तब मेहररुआ कहकई कि ''हम गुलगुलइनिया से खराब नऽ हियौ, जेकर छुअल कबूतरा के माँसा तक खा गेले हो ।'' तब पंडी जी सुन के अचरज में पड़ गेलथिन, आउ मेहररुआ से चुपचाप रहे ला कहलथिन । तब से ओकर हाथ के पकैलका ऊ खाय लगलथिन। बाद में पता चललै कि अपने मेहररुआ भेस बदल के माँसा खिलौलकै हल । ऊ दिन से दूनों साथ-साथ खाय-पीय आउ रहे लगलथिन। ई गुने केकरो पर बिना जनले झूठो सक-शुब्हा न करे के चाहीं ।
In a village, there was a Brahmin who had only one son. After a few days, the father passed away. His son became indifferent after performing the rituals. After some days, there was a fight between the mother and son. In anger, the son decided to leave. No matter how much he was advised, he refused to listen. While escaping, he met an old man on the way. The old man asked, "Why are you running away? Who will take care of your responsibilities?" The son replied, "I am not going to take care of any responsibilities. I want to study!" The old man said, "You will only study among your own caste; you won't be able to study among any other caste, no matter what anyone says." He inquired in three to four schools, but he did not find someone from his caste. He was already married.
While wandering, he ended up at his in-laws' place. His father-in-law was a teacher, so he asked what caste was taught there. Everyone said that only Brahmins taught there. He then asked, "Oh brother, can I study here too? Does the teacher teach?" Upon inquiry, he found out that the teacher indeed taught. Thus, he started studying there. He would go there for meals, but he did not recognize anyone in that place. However, everyone in the family of his in-laws recognized him.
In the same school, there was also a prince studying. One day, the prince saw that the teacher's daughters were very beautiful. So, he thought of marrying one of them and told his parents the whole story. When his father approached the teacher about marrying his daughter, he agreed. Then his daughter said, "Create a golden pathway from my house to yours, and make a 'kapaad-ghar' (a special ceremonial tent) in the middle of the pond, then I will agree to the marriage." The king made all the necessary arrangements.
On the day of the wedding, the ceremony was about to take place in the 'kapaad-ghar' with the prince. The girl then said, "Hey prince! If you are truthful, then soak a handful of 'humad' (a type of seed) in water. If it burns, then I will marry you!" The prince soaked the humad, but it did not burn. Then the girl got angry, and the soaked humad started burning because she was a devoted wife. Thus, the marriage did not take place. The girl returned home.
The boy who had started studying eventually married that girl. A few days later, it was time for the wedding procession. After the wedding, when they returned home, the boy thought, "This girl was supposed to marry the prince!" Because of this reason, he became indifferent and avoided his wife. The boy had studied and become a scholar. He went to a family to teach. The lessons finished after nine days, and during this time, his wife disguised herself and set up camp in the garden of the same village. After that, she too started learning from that scholar. The scholar did not recognize her. When the lessons finished, the disguised woman offered a meal of pigeon meat to the scholar as a ruse.
After the lessons were over, the wife returned home and adjusted her appearance. When the scholar arrived, she prepared a meal for him. The scholar refused to eat. Then the wife said, "I am not inferior to the meal you eat, you who have consumed the meat of my touched pigeon." Upon hearing this, the scholar was astonished and silently told her to stay quiet. From that day onwards, he started eating whatever she offered. Eventually, it was discovered that his own wife had disguised herself and fed him the meat. From that day onward, both of them started eating, drinking, and living together. This story teaches that one should not speak ill of others without knowing the truth.
